The Public Affairs Research Council is decrying what they say is an unconstitutional secret ballot nomination process for the Senate Presidency. The final vote for Senate President is public, but the crucial first step of nominating people for the position is not. PAR President Robert Travis Scott says the process is against the law.

Four LSU stars make first team All-SEC as the Purple and Gold head into the College Football playoffs with the 1st seed, and an undefeated record. LSU’s lone defensive first-teamer was freshman cornerback Derrick Stingley Jr., who also nabbed Newcomer of the Year. Tiger Rag Magazine Assistant Editor Tyler Nunez says Stingley may end his career as LSU best-ever defensive back.

Stingley has nabbed six picks and defended 15 passes, the second-most in the nation.

A crash in St. Landry Parish Saturday claims the lives of two women from Opelousas. State Police now have Michael Thibodeaux in custody after the driver fled the scene. State Trooper Thomas Gossen says Thibodeaux’ charge of hit and run driving could receive a much stronger sentencing because two fatalities occurred as a result of the accident as opposed to leaving an accident and not causing injury.

Another pedestrian was also injured in the accident.

After losing to the 49ers Sunday the Saints will need some luck to win home-field for the NFC playoffs.  Over the next three weeks, Green Bay must lose once and San Fran needs to lose twice or a lose to Seattle, plus the Saints need to win out.

QB Drew Brees says they are a better-performing squad than what was put out on Sunday.
