St. Bernard Parish Republican Mike Bayham has filed a bill that would result in a 25-dollar fine for a person who is walking across the street in the crosswalk, but is looking at their phone and not paying attention to the traffic….

Bayham notes it’s against the law to handle your cell phone while driving and pedestrians should also face punishment if they are paying attention to their phone while crossing the street.

Another bill that will be up for debate in the legislative session is a proposed constitutional amendment by state senator Jay Morris. The West Monroe Republican would like to see a mechanism for the removal of a judge or a district attorney upon the recommendation of the governor.

Morris says Louisiana residents are fed up with a system that allows repeat violent offenders to cycle through the courts without consequence.

 

According to the latest information from the U-S Drought monitor, three-quarters of the state is in drought conditions and 43-percent of the state is experiencing either severe or extreme drought. State Climatologist Jay Grymes says we could use two weeks of consistent rainfall…
