Grief in Caddo Parish after a police officer in Vivian is killed in the line of duty. Marc Brock was among the officers investigating a cyberstalking complaint Friday evening against 58-year-old Nicolas Alexander, when investigators say Alexander opened fire through the front door, killing him. Last night, there was a candlelight vigil at the North Caddo football field, and Commissioner Chris Kracman says people turned out in droves.

A Southeastern Louisiana University chemistry professor who was removed as the lead of the Lake Maurepas Monitoring Project makes a formal request to be reinstated in that role. Dr. Fereshteh Emami (fuh-RESH-teh uh-MAH-mee), was removed after she had issued her report on levels of toxic metals and pollution in the lake. Her attorney, William Most, says her findings caught university officials off-guard.

If you had Willie Green in your first NBA coach to be fired pool, you win. On Saturday, the Pelicans fired Green after the team lost ten out of their first 12 games, many by lopsided scores. Head of Basketball Operations Joe Dumars says wins and losses weren’t the main reason why the decision was made to fire Green.

Despite losing out on the Southland Conference title, Southeastern Louisiana is still alive for an at-large FCS playoff spot after beating Incarnate Word, 10-7. It was a good win for Coach Frank Scelfo’s team after losing the week before to Lamar.
