The state Office of Juvenile Justice has moved the juvenile offenders that were housed at a temporary facility at Angola to a new juvenile justice facility that opened this summer in Jackson Parish. The decision to relocate the youths comes after a federal judge ordered the state to move them to another facility, because of how they were treated at Angola. The state is appealing the federal judge’s ruling and they eventually plan to house all high-risk juveniles at a facility under construction near Monroe.

New campaign finance totals are in for all of the main gubernatorial candidates and front-runner Jeff Landry still has a much larger campaign warchest than his opponents. Election day is four weeks from tomorrow and political analyst Bernie Pinsonat says Landry is in good shape…

The body of a missing Vermilion Parish woman has been found and her boyfriend has been arrested. An autopsy will determine how 49-year-old Bobbie Jo Saltzman died. Her 34-year-old boyfriend David Smith, originally from New Iberia, has been charged with hit and run and further charges are pending.
