Sorry to disappoint, but the possibility of light snow in Louisiana tonight forecasters had predicted earlier on the week is a thing of the past.  State Climatologist Jay Grymes says though those chances had diminished, Grymes we will still strong cold front that will result in a cold weekend.

Governor Jeff Landry is in Washington, D-C, as tensions are building over President Trump’s desired acquisition of Greenland. The President says the United States needs Greenland for national security. Landry says there’s a concern about Russia taking over Greenland.

Greenland is controlled by Denmark, and both Greenland and Denmark have repeatedly said the island is not for sale and reject the idea of a U.S. take over.

The LSU women’s basketball team started off 0-and-2 in conference play, but the Lady Tigers are back to .500 in the SEC after a big win against number-two Texas. ESPN Women’s College Basketball Bracketologist Charlie Crème says the win against Texas shows that LSU is trending in the right direction.

Electric vehicles are increasing in popularity in Louisiana. According to Louisiana Clean Fuels, there are now more than 21-thousand electric vehicles and plug-in hybrids registered throughout the state. Executive Director Ann Vail says you will find the vast majority of them in the more heavily-populated parishes.

During an appearance on Fox News, Landry said the East Coast of the U.S. should be concerned with China’s involvement with the arctic nation as he says the Chinese have an impressive fleet of ice breaker vessels.

A record-breaking field has taken to the streets of Baton Rouge for the 15th annual Louisiana Marathon this morning. Marketing Director Mike Wattigny (WATT-nee) says more than nine-thousand runners from all over the world are competing, with more than 60-percent coming from outside Louisiana.

As Governor Landry continues his meetings with President Trump in Washington, DC, about Trump’s quest to acquire Greenland, people here in the U.S. are expressing concern. Kaitlyn Joshua, a community activist in Louisiana, was on WRKF’s Talk Louisiana and says this whole idea is foolish.

On Thursday, forecasters had said there was a slight possibility of very light snowfall in South Louisiana tomorrow night into Sunday morning. State Climatologist Jay Grymes says while those chances are pretty much gone, it’s still going to be quite cold.

LSU football has received commitments from several offensive linemen over the last 24 hours, including a Louisiana native. Devin Harper, who played at Calvary Baptist in Shreveport is transferring to LSU from Ole Miss. He’s ranked as the third best interior offensive lineman in the class.

The Tigers also received a commitment from Aliou (ah-LOU) Bah, who has started 23 consecutive games at Maryland and has allowed just one sack in 15-hundred snaps according to Pro Football Focus.

Offensive tackle Sean Thompkins, who was previously committed to North Carolina is now headed to LSU. He’s six-foot-five, 300 pounds and started six games at Baylor last season.

Kiffin also added to the defensive secondary as the younger brother of Mansoor Delane, Faheem Delane, has committed to LSU. The six-foot-one defensive  back is ranked 24-7 sports as the tenth best safety in the transfer portal class and was a backup at Ohio State in 2025, recording 12 tackles in five games.

After a devastating loss on Wednesday night to Kentucky, the LSU men’s basketball team will try again on Saturday when the Tigers host Missouri at 2:30 PM in the Maravich Center. LSU is winless in SEC play, while Mizzou is 3-and-1.

In other games of note, Louisiana Tech is at Jacksonville State. Nicholls looks to rebound from a loss to McNeese as the Colonels host Lamar. McNeese is at UTRGV.  IN the SWAC….Grambling hosts Southern.

Crawfish season is here but it’s early so prices are pretty high. According to the Crawfish App, live mudbugs are over seven dollars per pound, and boiled crawfish are over ten dollars per pound. Laney King, founder of the app, says prices will come down.

And harvesting for crawfish will likely be paused this weekend, because of cold temperatures. State Climatologist Jay Grymes says we could see two, possibly three, light freezes early next week. But he says we are not looking at pipe busting cold.

Wattigny says those who are walkers are welcomed with open arms in the Saturday events, saying it fulfills one of the event’s main purposes.

The Louisiana Marathon is expected to yield an economic impact of at least five-million dollars to the Baton Rouge area.

In Crème’s latest bracketology update, LSU came in as a number two seed. Crème says that even though their nonconference schedule wasn’t strong, the Tigers have shown plenty of potential to be a top team.

LSU travels to Norman to face number-13 Oklahoma on Sunday at 2 p.m. Crème anticipates the matchup between the top two scoring offenses in the nation to be high-scoring.

While Bill Cassidy, John Fleming, Blake Miguez and others duke it out for the Republican nomination in the U.S. Senate race, there are three Democrats who have also entered the race. The first to enter was Jamie Davis, who had previously been elected to the Tensas Parish Police Jury. Davis says one of his biggest priorities is ensuring that quality health care is available to everyone, including those who live in rural areas.

Further proof that you should take everything you see on social media with extreme skepticism. An Instagram account posted a video of a worn-down bridge, claiming it was the Atchafalaya Basin Bridge. Only thing is, those people were lying through their teeth – the bridge shown in the video is actually in Florida – three states to the east.
