The French Quarter will have its busiest weekend since New Year’s Day which ended tragically with the terror attack on Bourbon Street that killed 14 people. Egg prices are soaring as a result of the bird flu, which has resulted in fewer chickens that can lay eggs. Louisiana Agriculture Commissioner Mike Strain says it will take some time to restock poultry houses and vaccinate the hens…

While no cases have been found in Louisiana’s poultry industry, officials remain vigilant.

The New Orleans French Quarter is filling up with football fans. Huge crowds are expected through Super Bowl Sunday. Kelly Henderson, the manager at Fat Catz Music Club on Bourbon Street, says he’s treating Super Bowl week like Mardi Gras.

Business up and down Bourbon Street are looking for this week to make up for a tough January, when they had to close due for several days to the New Year’s Day attack and the snowstorm.

Super Bowl week means parties and Mardi Gras world thew a party for six-thousand media guests to promote Louisiana, and Lieutenant Governor Billy Nungesser says it put Louisiana in the Global Spotlight.

Louisiana leaders are increasingly concerned about bird flu following the USDA’s confirmation of a second strain in U.S. dairy cattle.  But Agriculture Commissioner Mike Strain says the virus has not yet been detected in the state’s commercial poultry operations.

A man in southwest Louisiana died earlier this year from the bird flu. He was infected with the same strain of bird flu detected in cattle in Nevada.

Law enforcement say they are ready for President Donald Trump’s arrival in New Orleans. Trump will attend the Super Bowl. New Orleans Police Superintendent Anne Kirkpatrick says that will mean additional street closures…

A non-profit organization is teaming up with the Orleans Parish Sheriff’s Office on an anti-human trafficking operation during Super Bowl Week. Andrew Greenstein reports.

A lieutenant with State Police has been arrested following an off-duty domestic violence incident. Baton Rouge Police took into custody last night 40-year-old James Jefferson the Third. He was booked with domestic abuse battery, with child endangerment. Jefferson has been employed by State Police since 2007.

Security is tight in the French Quarter as more visitors have arrived for Super Bowl 59. Louisiana National Guard soldiers are patrolling Bourbon Street and Lt. Governor Billy Nungesser says federal resources are also on the ground…

Barriers are also up to limit vehicle traffic, especially in the Bourbon Street area.

The Orleans Parish Sheriff’s Office is teaming up with the nonprofit group In Our Backyard to host anti-trafficking operations during Super Bowl Week. Human traffickers often use major events like the Super Bowl to exploit vulnerable people, especially children. Cheryl Csiky (“Chicky”), the executive director of In Our Backyard, says human trafficking is not the same as kidnapping or human smuggling.

During Super Bowl Week in Las Vegas last year, 16 missing children were found safe.

LSU Football Coach Brian Kelly says the comments made by Greg Brooks Senior on ABC’s Good Morning America struck a nerve with him. Brooks Senior alleged that Kelly and the LSU coaching staff has not reached out to his son since October 23^rd. Former LSU safety Greg Brooks Junior now struggles to walk and talk after surgery to remove a tumor from his brain. During a press conference on Wednesday, Kelly says he visited Brooks on multiple occasions.…

The Brooks family is suing LSU and Our Lady of the Lake regional medical center claiming the mishandled the emergency surgery performed on the former LSU defensive back.

Former Saints defensive back C-J Gardner Johnson will be playing in Sunday’s Super Bowl as he’s a member of the Eagles defensive secondary. New Orleans traded Johnson prior to the start of the 2022 season….

LSU football coach Brian Kelly vehemently denies the accusation he was not there for former Tigers safety Greg Brooks Junior following his brain surgery. According to Brooks’ family, the surgery to remove a tumor, resulted in multiple seizures that left him permanently disabled. In an interview on ABC’s Good Morning America, Brooks’ father says no one from LSU’s coaching staff has reached out since October 2023, right after the surgery

Cisky says during this ten-day operation, they have already turned in 27 instances of suspected human trafficking.
