Shreveport Police say the man they believe shot and killed pharmaceutical delivery driver Billy Jamison in a Walgreens parking lot last Wednesday has been arrested in Texas. Corporal Chris Bordelon says 38-year-old Kelvin Lewis was arrested late last week on an unrelated charge. Police are still seeking another suspect, 44-year-old Larry Lewis who they say has a long criminal record of drugs and weapons charges. Bordelon says Jamison was targeted, possibly because he had prescription drugs in his delivery vehicle.

Louisiana State Police graduates its newest cadet class. Trooper Shelby Mayfield says there was something unique about Cadet Class 105.

He says 56 cadets began the accelerated class and 51 graduated.

La Tech Chief Innovation Officer Donna Johnson says the partnership includes a custom-designed jet engine test platform, developed with Onyx Aerospace, featuring advanced fuel management, data systems, and sensors. The collaboration supports R&D for the U.S. Air Force, evaluating advanced fuels for military and commercial applications.

Johnson says this facility provides students with hands-on experience with cutting-edge propulsion and fuel technologies.

Governor Jeff Landry is urging Louisiana Senator Bill Cassidy and South Dakota Senator John Thune to support the confirmation of Robert F Kennedy as the next Secretary for the U-S Department of Health. Landry says America’s health continues to decline, and we need a leader who will shake up the status quo. Kennedy’s confirmation hearing is Thursday and Cassidy is the chairman of the committee holding the hearing.

The Louisiana Motor Transportation Association says last week’s historic snowfall and the closing of several major roadways show the need for more parking spaces for trucks during severe weather events.

A man wanted in the deadly shooting of a delivery driver outside a Shreveport Walgreens store is under arrest, and one is still on the loose.

Louisiana has 51 new State Troopers as the L-S-P held a graduation ceremony for Cadet Class 105. Trooper Shelby Mayfield says because this class is completely comprised of former law enforcement officers.

Last week’s historic snowstorm caused state officials to close most of of Interstate 10 through Louisiana, causing significant challenges. Louisiana Motor Transportation Association Executive Director Renee Amar says many drivers were stuck waiting for conditions to improve.

Amar says trucks resorted to parking on interstate shoulders, creating safety hazards.

Kansas City will play the Philadelphia Eagles who defeated Jayden Daniels and the Washington Commanders 55 to 23. It will be a rematch of Super Bowl 57, won by the Chiefs 38 to 35.

Saints offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak has found a new job as he’s leaving New Orleans after one season to be the O-C in Seattle. Former Saints head coach Dennis Allen will be the new defensive coordinator in Chicago and Bills offensive coordinator Joe Brady says he’s not interested in the Saints head coaching job.

 

After losing to South Carolina on Friday, the LSU women’s basketball team defeated Texas A-and-M 64 to 51. The Lady Tigers struggled to score for three quarters, but finally got going in the fourth quarter to put the Aggies away. LSU women’s basketball is down to number seven in the new AP Top 25 poll.

The top two teams in the Southland Conference meet tonight in Texas as McNeese visits A-and-M Corpus Christi. McNeese is undefeated in conference play. Southern is undefeated in SWAC play and the Jaguars are at Mississippi Valley State.

LSU baseball has started full squad preseason workouts and Indiana State transfer Luis Hernandez hit 23 home runs last season and Coach Jay Johnson says he’s shown signs he can be a good defensive catcher too…

North and central Louisiana are getting an additional area code in the 318 area code territory.   Louisiana Public Service Commissioner Foster Campbell says the new 457 area code will be for new numbers because 318 simply ran out of numbers.

New phones in the 3-1-8 are code territory will receive a  457 area code starting on September 25th.

A cat near New Orleans is confirmed to have been infected with bird flu. Agriculture Commissioner Mike Strain says a domestic breed feral cat was picked up from a colony in Plaquemines Parish and was neutered.

Last week, it looked a lot like Christmas in New Orleans with more than a half a foot of snow on the ground. Next week, it will look a lot like Christmas with green and red blanketing the city. That’s because the Eagles and the Chiefs will be playing in the Super Bowl in New Orleans a week from Sunday. Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes said after beating the Bills in the AFC Title Game that the team has shown a lot of perseverance throughout the season with many close wins.

The state is using the occasion of hosting the Super Bowl to showcase itself to companies and prospective newcomers. Economic Development Secretary Susan Bourgeois (BOO-zhwah) says they are setting up the “Louisiana NOW” pavilion to tell the state’s story.

The domestic breed feral cat was picked up from a colony in Plaquemines Parish, started showing signs of neurological illness and was euthanized. Agriculture and Forestry Commissioner Mike Strain says it’s unclear which type of bird flu that the cat was infected with.

Jayden Daniels’ magical rookie season with the Washington Commanders has come to an end after yesterday’s 55-23 loss to the Eagles.   Daniels had one interception, and the Commanders also lost three fumbles. Daniels says it’s a tough way to end the season.

The fifth-ranked LSU women’s basketball team rebounded from its loss to second-ranked South Carolina on Friday by beating Texas A-and-M 64 to 51. The Lady Tigers shot just 32 percent from the field but grabbed 30 offensive rebounds. Flau’Jae Johnson had 22 points.

Nice win for Louisiana Tech men’s basketball on Saturday night as the Bulldogs beat Middle Tennessee 75 to 69. Tech is now 4-and-4 in Conference USA action.

McNeese is at Corpus Christi tonight in a matchup of the two best teams in the Southland.
