Former LSU wide receiver Kyren Lacy was booked into the Lafourche Parish jail yesterday and then released on a 151-thousand-dollar bond. He’s facing charges for his alleged role in a fatal head-on crash that happened last month on Louisiana Highway 20.

Also, Duhon says by preparing meals at home instead of eating out, you can not only eat healthier, but you can also save a lot of money.

St. Tammany Parish is one step closer to securing almost six-billion dollars for its flood risk management project. The project was authorized under the 2024 Water Resources Development Act. Parish President Mike Cooper says this is the largest single investment in flood risk reduction in Louisiana history.

President Cooper says that’s the structural solution. As for the non-structural solution…

Cooper says it’s a large investment, but it is greatly needed.

The St. Tammany Levee, Drainage and Conservation District will discuss the projects in a meeting this Wednesday evening.

Residents with property insurance are getting a small break. Insurance Commissioner Tim Temple says the 1.36-percent assessment on all residential and commercial property insurance policies will disappear in April. The assessment has been paying off bonds Louisiana Citizens Insurance incurred from claims after hurricanes Katrina and Rita. Temple says the Citizens Board determined they have enough money to pay off the loans…

Temple says this will result in a 100-dollar savings for residential property insurance policies and 200-dollars for commercial policyholders.

Citizens’ Policyholders are also getting a break. A new law that went into effect January first waves the 10-percent surcharge on all new policies and renewals for the next three years, which means lower premiums for Citizen policyholders…

There are 115-thousand Citizens policyholders, down from 140-thousand after the hurricanes of 2020 and 2021.

Former LSU wide receiver Kyren Lacy is facing charges of negligent homicide and hit and run after authorities say his reckless driving on Louisiana Highway 20 in Lafourche Parish caused a head-on collision that killed a 78 year old man. L-S-P says the wreck happened on December 17th and Lacy kept driving, failing to stop and render aid or call authorities. Lacy’s agent says Kyren is fully participating in the investigation and they strongly believe the facts will demonstrate the truth.

We now know the names of the New Orleans police officers who shot and killed the terrorist who plowed a pickup truck into a crowd on Bourbon Street New Year’s Day. They are Nigel Daggs, Christian Byer and Jacobie Jordan, and Police Superintendent Anne Kirkpatrick calls them national heroes.

Newborn Essential Support Toolkits are now being distributed by Woman’s Hospital in Baton Rouge. The Department of Health and Human Services partnered with the non-profit organization Baby2Baby, to fill the kits with diapers, wipes, skin cream, clothes and other essentials. Congresswoman Julia Letlow says the kits, being distributed by five other entities across the state, allow new parents to get off to a good start with their newborn.

We now know the names of the New Orleans Police officers who fatally shot the Houston man who carried out the New Year’s Day attack on Bourbon Street. NOPD Superintendent Anne Kirkpatrick says Nigel Daggs, Christian Byer and Jacobie Jordan are heroes.  Body camera footage shows the officers approaching Shamsud-Din Jabbar’s pickup truck after it crashed into construction equipment in the 300-block of Bourbon Street.  All three are being recognized for their bravery and Kirkpatrick says all three have now been cleared to return to regular duty…

A Jennings man was arrested last night in one of the city’s largest ever drug busts following 9 overdoses in a single week.  Jennings police say their investigation let them to 60 year old Robert Martin and a search of his home turned up 11 pounds of narcotics including marijuana, meth, powder cocaine, heroin and fentanyl.  We’re told Martin is in jail.  His bond set at one million dollars.

Lacy led the Tigers in touchdown catches this past season and was expected to be a mid-round selection in this year’s NFL draft.

Louisiana Tech defensive coordinator Jeremiah Johnson is reportedly leaving the Bulldogs for Coastal Carolina. Johnson turned around the Bulldogs defense this past season and they were ranked number one in Conference USA in total defense.

Ohio State doubled up Texas last night 28 to 14 and the Buckeyes will play Notre Dame in the title game on January 20th.

Pelicans star Zion Williamson was suspended for last night’s game in Philadelphia for a violation of team policies. It’s reported Williamson was late for the team’s flight to Philadelphia. Coach Willie Green said before the game several incidents led up to the suspension. New Orleans went on to win without Williamson, beating the 76ers 123 to 115. Another big scoring night for C-J McCollum as he had 38 points.

In college hoops…LSU looks for its first SEC win as the Tigers take on 23rd ranked Ole Miss at 5 PM. LSU has been plagued by slow starts and turnovers in two SEC losses.

The agent for former LSU star wide receiver Kyren Lacy issues a statement following the issuing of a warrant for his arrest. Louisiana State Police say on December 17th, Lacy was driving recklessly when he caused a crash on Highway 20 in Lafourche Parish that killed 78-year-old Herman Hall of Thibodaux. Lacy’s agent says he is fully cooperating with authorities and that the facts will ultimately demonstrate the truth.

A former LSU football star is in trouble with the law.  Louisiana State Police announced on Friday afternoon an arrest warrant for 24-year-old Kyren Lacy, who caught nine touchdown passes for the Tigers in 2024. Troopers say back on December 17th, Lacy recklessly passed multiple vehicles at a high rate of speed on Louisiana Highway 20 in Lafourche Parish. Investigators say Lacy’s actions resulted in a head-on crash, which resulted in the death of 78-year-old Herman Hall of Thibodaux. Lacy has been charged with negligent homicide and hit and run for not stopping after the crash he caused.

The Saints announced they interviewed Lions defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn today. Glenn is very familiar with the Black and Gold. The former cornerback played for the Saints in 2008 and he was the Saints defensive backs coach from 2016 and 2020.

Saints special teams ace J-T Gray has been voted to the Associated Press All-Pro team. The Mississippi native led the NFL with 26 special teams tackles, which is a new career-high.

The NFL playoffs begin this weekend. It starts with the Houston Texans taking on the Los Angeles Chargers. Former LSU star and Texans cornerback Derek Stingley Junior has been named AP First Team All Pro.

On Sunday afternoon, Sean Payton leads the Broncos into their playoff matchup with the Bills. Sunday night, it’s Jayden Daniels and the Commanders visiting the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. January 2006 is the last time the Washington franchise won a playoff game. Daniels says there’s no added pressure in trying to break the postseason victory drought…

The St. Helena Parish Sheriff’s Office says two children are among three people who were stabbed to death, in a domestic disturbance incident that took place near Amite Thursday. Sheriff Clay Chutz says 31-year-old Ryant Jones has been arrested and charged with three counts of first-degree murder. Chutz calls it “a horrible tragedy.” The victims’ ages are 40 years, ten years, and one year old.

New Orleans Police Superintendent Anne Kirkpatrick identified the three officers who fatally shot the terrorist who drove from Houston and carried out the attack on Bourbon Street on New Year’s Day. Kirkpatrick says officers Nigel Daggs, Christian Byer and Jacobie Jordan are heroes….
