The body of a woman found in Lake Pontchartrain 38 years ago has finally been identified, thanks to new technology.  St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Lieutenant  Suzanne (soo-ZAWN) Carboni says genealogy and DNA testing finally i-d’d the body as that of Pamela Lee Hupp Now, the task is finding the Florida woman’s killer.

The Monroe Police Department is being featured on the television documentary series On Patrol: Live for the next eight weeks. Monroe Police Chief Victor Zordan says viewers will get an up close look at what it takes to maintain safety and order in the city.

Saints running back Alvin Kamara has received a two-year contract extension through the 2026 season. The new deal includes 22-million dollars in guaranteed money and it reportedly saves New Orleans 18-million dollars in salary cap space next year. Kamara wants to retire as a Saint and he’s less than 250 yards away from becoming the team’s all-time leading rusher.

LSU was ranked 86th in points allowed last season, giving up 30 points a game. This year LSU is allowing 21 points a game and ranked 35th in the country. First-year defensive coordinator Blake Baker is receiving praise and Coach Brian Kelly says Baker took time to develop personal relationships with the players…

An Amani Givens one-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter put Louisiana Tech on top and the Bulldogs held on to beat Texas  El Paso 14 to 10. Tech’s defense held the Miners to 85 yards passing as Jakari Foster and Koble Fields each had 11 tackles.  The Bulldogs only rushed for seven yards, but they are now 2-and-2 in Conference USA action.

A new season kicks off tonight for the Pelicans as New Orleans hosts the Chicago Bulls. Zion Williamson is questionable with an illness, Dejounte Murray is also questionable for personal reasons and Jose Alvarado is also questionable with a right knee.

The Bulls are a mediocre team in the Eastern Conference and Pels Coach Willie Green gives us a scouting report…

Trial began yesterday for the man accused in a mass shooting in downtown Shreveport in March of last year.    Jurors heard opening statements in the case of Devin Owen Porter Jr., who’s charged with second-degree murder and six counts of attempted murder after police say he fired multiple shots near Texas Street.  32 year old Jacorvin Taylor was killed, six other people were injured.

A Florida woman whose body was found in Lake Pontchartrain 38 years ago has finally been identified.

A fisherman found Pamela Lee Hupp’s body in the lake on June 19th, 1986. However, St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Lieutenant Suzanne (soo-ZAWN) Carboni says due to the lack of technology available back then, they were unable to identify her or match her with any missing individuals and became known simply as “Lake Lady Jane Doe.” Using genealogy and DNA testing, and through interviews with family members, investigators were finally able to put a name with the body. Carboni says the process was long and hard, but it was worth it.

Now, the task is finding Hupp’s killer, assuming that person is still alive.

A federal judge in Baton Rouge heard arguments yesterday over the state law requiring the Ten Commandments to be posted in all public school classrooms. One of the plaintiffs, Unitarian Universalist Minister Darcy Roake, says it’s not the state’s job to push religion on kids.

The state argued that the Ten Commandments have historical significance and is not overtly religious. Attorney General Liz Murrill said the plaintiff’s expert witness, Steven K. Green of Willamette University, failed to prove that the posting of the Ten Commandments in classrooms violates the First Amendment.

Judge John deGravelles is expected to issue a ruling by November 15th.

A genealogist has identified the remains of five enslaved people who are buried on the grounds of a proposed plastics facility in St. James Parish. Lenora Gobert says the five people were between the ages of nine and 31 when they died, and that it was standard practice back then to bury the remains of enslaved people at the plantations they worked at. Taiwan-based Formosa Plastics Group says it has fenced off the burial site for protection.

Dr. Diego Bufquin (BUFF-quin), the director of the hospitality unit at Tulane University’s Freeman School of Business, says Swift’s concerts will bring as much as 300-million dollars to the city.
