Tulane says the President is providing dollars to Tulane to revolutionize cancer treatment by creating an imaging system that will give doctors the ability to scan a tumor during surgery.

At change-dot-org, there are more than a dozen petitions trying to drum up public support to reverse or make changes to the state’s new ban on cellphones in the classroom. We are 19 days away from LSU’s season opener and defensive coordinator Blake Baker is looking for more consistency from his guys. Sophomore cornerback Ashton Stamps might be the perfect example of that. Stamps has been getting reps with the first team, along with Sage Ryan as the other boundary corner. Stamps has made his fair share of plays during preseason camp, but Baker is looking for more.

LSU is ranked 13th in the AP Preseason poll and LSU received a commitment from a three-star defensive tackle out of Texas, Dilan Battle, from Arlington, Texas.

Louisiana Tech was poor on defense last season, but one of the bright spots was Michael Richard. Emma Grace Hodge says the ban, which was signed into law last month, is unnecessary since students know when they shouldn’t be on their phones. She says her petition is calling for cell phone use during free time, not class time.

Hodge says it’s unfair that teachers can have their phones but not students. Additionally, she says, students in the past could use their phones during non-class time with little to no issue, and she thinks it’s not fair to add regulations to what is supposed to be free time.

There are no exceptions to the school cell phone ban, meaning anyone who needs to contact a student during school hours would have to go through the school. Hodge says this creates an unnecessarily complicated system, as there’s usually a delay between when schools get calls and when they alert students.

Louisiana’s restaurant industry is improving post-pandemic in areas around the state. Mel Bridges has the details.

Officials are investigating after a body was reportedly found in a pond just south of I-12 Monday morning. The body was found in a pond off South Frost Road, also known as Highway 63. The Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office was called to the scene after someone reported a male body floating in a pond. There was no immediate information on how long the body had been there or the body’s identity. This is a developing story.

 

As investigations into the assassination attempt on former President Trump’s life continue, House Majority Leader Steve Scalise says there are even more concerning details in the case that the Secret Service wasn’t forthcoming about.

The Saints were winners in their first preseason game of the year on Saturday night edging out the Arizona Cardinals 16-14 in Glendale, Arizona. Quarterback Derek Carr led the Saints for two series to start the game, but the drives didn’t result in any points as he went 2 of 6 for 12 yards. But Carr was glad to see some game action…

Louisiana’s restaurant industry is on a slow mend after COVID. Louisiana Restaurant Association President Stan Harris estimates 15 to 20 percent of Louisiana restaurants closed their doors during the pandemic…

Harris says restaurant expenses continue to climb, especially insurance, and more and more restaurants are opting to reduce their hours of operation.

As investigations into the assassination attempt on former President Trump’s life continue, House Majority Leader Steve Scalise says the truth is coming to light over statements that Trump’s security detail was denied extra personnel from the Biden Administration.

AP has released it’s preseason top 25. LSU is the sixth-highest-rated SEC team, behind Georgia, Texas, Alabama, Ole Miss and Missouri. However, Horne says LSU has a lot of potential to move up the ranks and make the playoffs.

Students at Louisiana High Schools are fighting the new law banning student cell phones in school. Students at Walker High School have begun a petition drive to change the newly enacted law. Over ten thousand students at a Prairieville high school have already signed a similar petition.
