Louisiana Senator John Kennedy had a chance to grill U-S Secret Service Acting Director Ronald Rowe on Capitol Hill today about the assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump. Kennedy asked Rowe why Secret Service snipers didn’t see Thomas Crooks laying on a roof 150 feet away from where Trump was speaking.

ULM political science professor Pearson Cross believes Higgins will most likely bring a skeptical view to the panel which he believes is an asset if Higgins signs off on the investigation.

With several conspiracy theories circulating about the shooting, Cross believes Higgins will most likely bring a skeptical view to the panel which he believes is an asset if Higgins says it was a thorough investigation and he agrees with their findings.

Grambling State quarterback Myles Crawley has been named to the preseason watch list for the 2024 Stats Perform Walter Payton Award. The redshirt-senior from Georgia threw for 23-hundred yards and 16 touchdowns. Nicholls running back Jaylon Spears is also on the Walter Payton Award preseason watch list. The former Brother Martin star had over 13-hundred all-purpose yards and nine touchdowns last season.

Louisiana Tech and Southern Miss have agreed to play each other in football four times from 2029 to 2033. The first game will be in Ruston on September 15th, 2029. The two schools were previously rivals in Conference USA.

Authorities are still investigating a fatal boat collision on the Tickfaw River that occurred on Sunday leaving 31-year-old Thuy (Twee) Gustin of Springfield and 36-year-old Chase Sharkey of Greensburg dead and six injured. Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries agents, along with local law enforcement, are leading the investigation to determine the cause of the collision. LDWF Sgt. Randy Lanoux…

Lanoux says they believe both boats were traveling at a moderate speed and until toxicology reports come back, they will not know if alcohol was a factor.

Lafourche Parish government officials estimate 34-thousand gallons of oil spilled into Bayou Lafourche. The spill is the result of a leaking fuel tank at the Crescent Midstream pumping station in Raceland. A large clean-up effort is underway. Some wildlife has been affected and that includes 17 aquatic salamanders and three turtles that have died.
