After a study in early 2002 linking Hormone replacement therapy in women to an increase in breast cancer the use of HRT dropped dramatically. But Tulane Researcher and Professor of Brain Science Dr. Jill Daniel says since there’s been more thorough research that indicates otherwise, depending on a woman’s overall health and they’re taking a closer look.

Former Louisiana Congressman and state representative Cedric Richmond is being consididered as a potential running mate on the democratic ticket. We’re told Harris has requested vetting materials on the New Orleans native. But UNO Political Science professor Ed Chervenak says Richmond isn’t likely to get the nod.

Researchers at Tulane University are studying estrogen use in middle age to see if it can improve brain health for women later in life. Because women are almost twice as likely to develop Alzheimer’s compared to men, and Professor of Brain Science Dr. Jill Daniel says they are investigating to see if the typical drop in estrogen due to menopause is a factor.

The Saints begin training camp today, and first order of business will be implementing first-year Offensive Coordinator Klint Kubiak’s new scheme. The former 49ers assistant coach helped lead one of the most effective motion-heavy offenses in the NFL last season and is expected to bring big changes to the black and gold offense. Running back Alvin Kamara reported for camp and is expected to make his return to the practice field after leaving during the final practice of mandatory minicamp due to contract disputes. The 28-year-old still hasn’t gotten the extension he’s hoping for, but Head coach Dennis Allen says he’s looking forward to getting to work…

Former LSU pitcher Paul Skenes received his first loss as a pro yesterday as the Pirates fell 2-1 to the Cardinals. Skenes finished with 8 strikeouts, four hits, and 2 earned runs in 104 pitches through 8 innings for the longest outing of his young career. The All-Star starter now has a 6-and-1 record with 97 strikeouts and a 1.93 ERA.

Louisiana Tech coach Sonny Cumbie spoke at Conference USA Kickoff yesterday. Cumbie’s Bulldogs finished with a disappointing 3-and-9 record in his third-straight season in Ruston with 4 of those losses by just one score. Cumbie says his team’s ready to change the narrative…

Also, under the executive order issued by the governor, Donahue will create an initiative called “Rebuild Louisiana,” meant to find additional revenue for the department. Donahue says then he’ll meet with the Commissioner of Administration and Revenue Secretary.

Donahue says the plan he submits will detail ways to rehabilitate the department, how to address current issues, and future infrastructure reform

Estrogen use, also known as Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) is usually given to women to treat menopausal systems like hot flashes on a short-term basis.

Louisiana U-S Senator Bill Cassidy is glad Cheatle changed her mind and decided to step down…

House Speaker Louisiana Republican Mike Johnson and Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries announced a bipartisan House Task Force consisting of seven Republicans and six Democrats to investigate the assassination attempt and get answers to the American public.

A Public Affairs Research Council of Louisiana survey indicates that one in five Louisianans receive food stamps also known as SNAP. Of those recipients about 45 percent are children Invest in Louisiana executive director Jan Moller says it shouldn’t be a surprise but should be alarming.

The average SNAP benefit amount per household, which is based on household size and monthly income, is $373 a month since July 2023.

Jimmy Genovese (Gen-o-vez) was introduced today as the 21st president of Northwestern State. Genovese was the lone finalist for the job to replace Doctor Marcus Jones. Genovese left the Supreme Court as a judge to lead his alma mater and he’s amazed at the support he’s received

The Saints reported for training camp today as New Orleans will begin practices tomorrow in Irvine, California. The players are learning a new offense with first-year offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak.

The Saints defense under Dennis Allen has rarely been a concern, but that unit has a few aging stars and question marks on the defensive line. Allen’s group performed to standard last season thanks to their ability to turn the ball over and get stops on third down- two stats without much year-to-year consistency. Luke Johnson who covers the Saints for the Advocate says he’s learned to trust Allen but he’s yet to be convinced…

Director Kimberly Cheatle has resigned from the Secret Service after Speaker Mike Johnson continually called for her to step down after the assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump.

Cheatle told a House Committee Monday the agency failed in protecting former President Donald Trump. Louisiana U-S Senator Bill Cassidy says it’s outrageous the public spotted the shooter before the Secret Service acted….

Cedric Richmond, a New Orleans native and 1998 graduate of Tulane Law School is being considered for the position. Harris has reportedly requested vetting materials on Richmond who previously worked in the Biden Administration. In 2020 Richmond resigned from his position representing the 2nd Congressional District to join President Biden’s administration.

Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office is investigating an early morning double homicide just outside Amite. Around 5:00 AM Tuesday morning, Amite Police responded to a 911 call for help from a woman saying she had been shot. Police arrived at the mobile home on MLK Street to find a man and woman dead from gunshot wounds. The couple is believed to be live-in romantic partners in their late 20s. Their identities have not yet been released. Sheriff Gerald Sticker is asking for anyone with information to contact the Sherriff’s office.
