LDWF cited 26-year-old Hunter Herrington, 35-year-old Damien Corville, 34-year-old Skylar Robichaux, 25-year-old Jessie Reece, and a juvenile for theft of crawfish. Agents obtained video showing the men checking and keeping crawfish from traps, which didn’t belong to them four times between July 5-10. Penalties for crawfish theft are up to a $2000 fine and two years in jail.

Executive Director Libbie Sonnier says retaining credentialed workers is hard because of the low pay. Still, it’s so important for building a solid foundation for children.

A Slidell physician has been found guilty of conspiring to illegally distribute 1.8 million doses of Schedule II controlled substances that included oxycodone and morphine. Prosecutors say 58-year-old Adrian Dexter Talbot, who owned and operated Medex Clinical Consultants, also defrauded health care benefit programs more than $5.4 million. The U.S. Attorney’s Office says patients at the clinic were getting controlled substances without ever seeing the doctor or having an exam. Sentencing is set for October 23^rd.

The Sheriff’s Office in Wilkinson County Mississippi believe they have found the body of missing Southern University student, Steven Harris. Harris went missing July 17^th and was supposed to be at a child custody hearing for his son in West Feliciana. His parents told authorities it was out of character for him not to be there for his son and to not communicate with them.

Tulane researchers are studying to see if estrogen use for middle age women can improve brain health later in life. Research already shows women are almost twice as likely to develop Alzheimer’s compared to men, so Professor of Brain Science Dr. Jill Daniel says they are investigating to see if the typical drop in estrogen due to menopause is a factor.
