Now it looks like Lafayette could soon be getting the popular spot. According to The Advocate, the construction company that has built other Bucee’s has requested a variance with the zoning board in Lafayette.

Two Deputies in Richland Parish were stabbed multiple times after catching up to a fleeing suspect Thursday. 23-year-old Colby Bazan answered RPSO’s request to appear at the sheriff’s office regarding a simple assault and criminal trespass warrant for him involving alleged threats against his family members. When Bazan realized he was under arrest authorities say he fled and when deputies caught up to him, he stabbed two of them with a knife in his possession. Both Deputies were treated and released from the hospital. Bazan is charged with attempted first-degree murder of a police officer and is being held on a one-million-dollar bond.

Governor Jeff Landry has signed what has been called the bathroom bill. The legislation prohibits a transgender individual from using a bathroom or locker room at a school that does not match their biological sex. Denham Springs Representative Roger Wilder says his legislation is designed to protect females, especially young girls…

After signing the bill, Governor Landry said in a statement that he’s proud to sign House Bill 608 which protects women’s safety and reinforces the very definition of what it means to be a woman.

LSU second baseman Steven Milam has been invited to the USA Baseball Collegiate National Team Training camp. He is one of 56 players that will attempt to make the Collegiate National Team that will go on a summer league tour that includes a series against Chinese Taipei. Milam had a monster freshman season, hit .326, with eight homers, and 40 RBIs.

LSU has several players who just completed their sophomore seasons who are eligible for next month’s Major League Baseball Draft. Griffin Herring, Paxton Kling, Gavin Guidry and Jared Jones. Jones hit 28-home runs during his sophomore campaign and Hunt Palmer with ESPN 104-5 and 104-9 in Baton Rouge says it’s likely Jones has played his final game at LSU…

Former Grambling assistant football coach Doug Porter has passed away at the age of 94. He was the oldest living member of the College Football Hall of Fame. Porter was an assistant at Grambling for nine seasons after he played quarterback at Xavier of Louisiana and served in the U-S Army. He was a head coach at Mississippi Valley State and Fort Valley State. At Fort Valley State, Porter was a seven-time Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Coach of the Year.

Spaces include bathrooms, locker rooms and sleeping areas at schools, prisons, and domestic violence shelters. Denham Springs Representative Roger Wilder says there was strong support for his legislation.

The M-J Foster Promise Program provides grant dollars to adults who want to go to a two-year school and earn the necessary crendtials to get a job in a high demand field. The program is currently taking applications. Brittany Theriot with the Louisiana Office of Student Financial Assistance says last year they had more than ten-thousand applicants…

Crawfish season is winding down, and to say it was unpredictable is an understatement.  LSU Ag Center Crawfish specialist Mark Shirley says at the start of the season, things looked dire due to the previous summer drought and extreme heat, and while supply increased in May, it was still around half a typical year. As for the next mudbug season, Shirley says farmers are cautiously optimistic.

Pruitt was traveling through town for a court date the following day and rented a room for the night. Morton says the motive for the murder remains unknown.

Deputies found Pruitt at the courthouse where they questioned him and acquired a search warrant for his car and found the victims cellphone covered in blood. Morton noticed blood on his vehicle and scratches on his body. He was arrested and DNA obtained matched the victim.

Pruitt was convicted of first-degree murder in 2017.

Crawfish season is winding down, and to say it was an unpredictable one is an understatement.  LSU Ag Center Crawfish specialist Mark Shirley says towards the end of the season, April and May, supply increased in some fields, but that wasn’t the case for every crawfish farmer.

At the start of the season, things looked extremely dire due to the summer drought and extreme heat. December through February Shirley says supply was down around 90 percent. In May supply increased, but Shirley says it was only 40 to 50 percent compared to other Mays.

As for the outlook for the next mudbug season, Shirley says farmers are cautiously optimistic.

Shirley says even though supply increased in April and May, for the most part, folks in south Louisiana were able to enjoy them. Out-of-state eateries went without mudbugs this season.

Director of the Louisiana Trans Advocates, Peyton Rose Michelle, says this law will  only create more fear in the transgender community about bathrooms.

But Wilder says women should not have to worry about a biological man, who is now a transgender woman entering a bathroom

The legislation also extends to bathrooms and sleeping areas at prisons and domestic violence shelters. It passed in the Houston on an 80-17 vote and in the Senate the vote was 29 to 10 in favor. Wilder says there was strong support for this measure

Brittany Theriot with the Louisiana Office of Student Financial Assistance says the award amount is 32-hundred dollars per year for a full-time student and students can receive a maximum of 64-hundred dollars over three years…

This is the third year of the M-J Foster Program and Theriot says last year they had more than ten thousand applicants
