A bill that will ban all THC products from being sold or manufactured in Louisiana is pending final House passage today. Veterans Action Council member Tony Landry is against the measure and he has a message for lawmakers making the final decision.

Reversing an earlier decision, Louisiana will be partnering with a federal program to provide Summer grocery-buying benefits through SUN Bucks also known as Summer EBT to eligible low-income school age children. Secretary of Children and Family Services, David Matlock says if a school-aged child received SNAP Benefits during the school year, there should be no need to apply but you will need your SNAP card.

Louisiana Tech has made it to the NCAA Baseball Tournament for a 11th time as the Bulldogs will compete in the Fayeteville Regional, hosted by Arkansas, who is a number five national seed. The Diamond Dogs will will face Kansas State at 7 PM. The Wildcats are 32-and-24 this year.

Tulane and Nicholls are both headed to the same regional and they will play in Corvallis, Oregon. The Coloens are the three-seed and will take on U-C Irvine. The Green Wave are the number one seed and they’ll play Oregon State.

And Grambling is in the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2010 and they’ll play Texas A-and-M in the College Station Regional at noon on Friday.

In football, at the close of spring practice, LSU Coach Brian Kelly said he may add a punter in the transfer portal as he was not happy with Peyton Todd’s lack of consistency. Louisiana Tech punter Blake Ochsendorf has announced he plans on transferring to LSU. Ochsendorf led Conference USA in punting average last season.

The biggest holdup is the Senate, which is concerned about how much a convention is actually needed. However, Alford says even if the Senate was on board, legislators are simply running out of time.

Despite this, a constitutional convention could be possible after this session through a special session or House intervention.

The session is set to end June 3rd but could wrap by the end of the week.

Bill author New Orleans Senator Royce Duplessis says Landry’s rejection of the Healthy Food Retail Act is surprising and troubling. The bill passed overwhelmingly in both the House and Senate.

The LSU Baseball team will travel to North Carolina this weekend for a Regional at Chapel Hill, hosted by the Tar Heels, who are seeded fourth nationally. The Tigers will open the regional by playing the Wofford Terriers, who just won the Southern Conference and Wofford is making its first NCAA Tournament appearance since 2007.

The Tigers are coming off a great run at the SEC Tournament. They nearly won the tournament championship, but lost to Tennessee four to three yesterday. Shortstop Michael Braswell had a great week in Hoover…

Louisiana Tech is a two-seed in the Fayetteville Regional and the Bulldogs will go up against Kansas State at 7 PM. The Bulldogs lost in the Conference USA Championship game to Dallas Baptist, while the Wildcats were 15-and-15 in the Big 12, 32-and-24 overall.

Today is Memorial Day, a day to honor those who fought for our country. Louisiana Department of Veterans Affairs Secretary Col. Charlton Meginley says it is important every day, but especially today, to pay respects to the 11 thousand Louisiana veterans who have died in combat.

Large jackpots from the Louisiana Lottery have transferred almost 48 million dollars to the state treasury. According to Lottery spokesperson Dustin Annison, in addition to the increase in ticket sales thanks to five-billion dollar jackpots produced by Powerball and Mega Millions this year…

An antitrust settlement has been finalized that will result in all college athletes being paid directly by the school. Outkick college reporter Trey Wallace estimates the settlement will result in each school paying about 20 million dollars to athletes in every sport, most of which won’t be generated from traditional means such as ticket and food sales.
