Severe weather conditions are expected to impact the Bayou State starting today through tomorrow morning. National Weather Service Shreveport Meteorologist Gary Chatelain says this front primarily for Arkansas and Oklahoma will graze the northwestern region of the Bayou State.

The forecast puts the portion of Louisiana between the northern portion of I-49 and I-20 corridor in the slight risk category for severe weather in the early morning hours of Friday.

Chatelain says the arrival of a cold front over the weekend will send temperatures plummeting and bring strong northerly winds. He says an artic outbreak will also send temperatures into freezing conditions Sunday night into next week.

Chatelain says the potential for severe and wintery weather is great. He says it could possibly be a bumpy ride and is worth preparing for.

Johnson says border security is their top priority in the House and since Biden took office there have been more than seven million illegal encounters recorded at the southern border.

The Republican says there are estimates that more than 14 to 15 million illegal aliens have entered the U.S. in the last three years, including 312 suspects who are on the terrorist watch list.

The White House has proposed more funding to hire additional Border Patrol agents to reduce the number of crossings. But Johnson says they want a return to tougher policies that were in place during the Trump administration.

Stunning news in the world of college football as Alabama head coach Nick Saban has decided to retire. The 72-year-old has won seven national titles, six at Alabama and one at LSU in 2003. Some say this past season was one of his greatest coaching jobs as he led the Crimson Tide to the college football playoffs.

LSU made a big coaching hire today as they convinced defensive line coach Bo Davis to leave Texas and come back to his alma mater. Davis was a nose guard at LSU in the early 1990s and now he’s considered one of the best defensive line coaches. He’s been part of three national championships including LSU’s in 2003 as a strength and conditioning coach. He’s also produced 17 all-conference selections and seven all-americans in 12 years.

Bulldogs Coach Sonny Cumbie announced today that offensive line coach Nathan Young has been promoted to co-offensive coordinator.

After winning just two conference games last year, LSU men’s basketball is off to a 2-0 start in SEC play this season after beating Vanderbilt 77 to 69 in the Maravich Center last night. Jalen Cook had 28 points. It’s the first time since the 2019-20 season that LSU started conference play with back-to-back wins. Coach Matt McMahon says he’s seeing his team play with more confidence…

Louisiana’s open primary system has been around since the 1970s. In 2008 and 2010 Louisiana party-run primaries for just federal races, but Senator Bill Cassidy says it caused confusion and independent voters were upset they could not vote in a closed primary…

A 33-year-old Hot Springs Arkansas man was sentenced to 18 months in jail Tuesday after in July of 2022, he claimed he was planning to possibly perform a mass shooting at Natchez High School. Kenneth Allen Moody made the claims to the Vidalia Police Department while he was living in Vidalia. He said he had been planning the attack for months and but wanted to turn himself in. Police along with the FBI investigated and tracked Moody through his cell phone.
