The New Orleans teenager convicted of killing Linda Frickey in March of 2022 was sentenced to life in prison yesterday. John Honore, who was 17 when he committed the crime, could be eligible for parole after 25 years. You’ll recall the murder involved the murder involved Honore carjacking, beating, and dragging Frickey with her own car 700 feet. Honore’s co-defendants have already pleaded guilty to the lesser charge of attempted manslaughter.

The Pelicans seven-game road winning streak came to an end last night with a 125- to 113 loss the defending champion Denver Nuggets. New Orleans was never really in this game. Zion Williamson had 30 points, 18 were scored in the fourth quarter. The Pels are in Dallas tonight and they play the Mavericks again on Monday.

Alabama has found its replacement for Nick Saban. It’s Washington’s Kalen DeBoer. DeBoer just led the Huskies to the College Football National Championship game. The 49-year-old from South Dakota has a coaching record of 104 and 12, 25 and 3 at Washington.

ESPN’s Pete Thamel reports LSU is set to hire Missouri assistant Kevin Peoples as an assistant coach. Football Scoop reported earlier this week that it’s possible Peoples will coach the defensive ends and Bo Davis will coach the defensive tackles.

The 14-year-old male victim died at the hospital and the 13-year-old who was shot in the leg is expected to make a full recovery. The school says they will have grief counselors when school resumes on Tuesday after the holiday along with extra security.

Entergy Louisiana says they are temporarily suspending disconnections for non-payment from Monday through Friday next week due to the anticipated severely cold weather. Beyond January 19th, Entergy says they will take a day-by-day approach on disconnections.

Governor Landry has issued a state of emergency ahead of the anticipated cold weather Sunday through Wednesday. He’s encouraging residents to prepare and to visit GetAGamePlan-dot-org for a guide. It didn’t take long for Alabama to hire a new head coach. The Crimson Tide are reportedly working on a contract with Washington’s Kalen DeBoer to replace Nick Saban. DeBoer just led the Huskies to the College Football National Championship game. The 49-year-old from South Dakota has a coaching record of 104 and 12. He want 67-and-3 at Sioux Falls an NAIA school. He was 12 and 6 at Fresno State and 25 and 3 at Washington.

The 7th ranked LSU women’s basketball team won its 16th straight game last night as the Lady Tigers took down Texas A&M 87-70. Statistically the Aggies had the best defense in the country coming into the game, but they couldn’t stop Kim Mulkey’s squad….

A former Baton Rouge police officer was charged Friday with third-degree rape and has been fired. 30-year-old Demichael Robertson was fired last month. He had been arrested by Zachary Police twice last August, First accused of inappropriately touching a young girl. The second arrest was on a count of third-degree rape stemming from a December 2022 incident. According to an affidavit, The victim said she had been afraid to report it sooner, “due to Demichael being a well-known Baton Rouge Police Officer,”

Acting Bogalusa Police Chief Percy Knight says it happened but before 9 pm during the game against Covington. They do not have any suspects at this time and are asking for the public’s help. Knight says they believe the two victims were together and the shooting happened near a car that was in a parking lot located outside of a fence near the school.

A 14-year-old boy was killed, and a 13-year-old boy was shot in the leg.

Extreme cold for Louisiana is blowing in. The National Weather Service says, by Sunday, the coldest weather the state has seen in years. Temperatures drop as low as thirteen degrees north of I-20 next week. Shreveport Meteorologist Carly Kovacik says the cold front will drop temperatures across the state and by the end of next week, temperatures will start to warm a bit into the 50s. but, she says don’t put away those coats just yet.

The National Weather Service urges Louisianans to prepare for the coldest weather the state has seen in years by Sunday, temperatures in the low teens north of I-20. Shreveport Meteorologist Carly Kovacik says the cold front will drop temperatures across the state.

Kovacik says snow, sleet, and freezing rain can not be ruled out for the I-20 corridor on Monday. By Tuesday morning, she says not much change in peak temperatures are expected…

By the end of next week, temperatures will start to warm into the 50s. With winter ending in March, she says don’t put away those coats just yet.
