Economist Loren Scott is predicting Louisiana will add nearly 39-thousand jobs in 2024 and another 42-thousand jobs in 2025. Scott says he’s predicting these type of job gains because of 154-billion dollars worth of industrial projects in the queue along the I-10 corridor. Scott says the next two years should also be good for Central Louisiana.

The state transportation department is upgrading 12 hundred traffic signals in Louisiana to include flashing yellow left-turn arrows. DOTD spokesperson Rodney Mallett says a yellow flashing turn arrow lets motorists know they should yield to oncoming traffic when turning left.

Louisiana Congressman Steve Scalise has thrown his hat in the ring to be considered the next Speaker of the House. UNO Political Science Professor Dr. Ed Chervenak says it’s no surprise the House Majority Leader wants to move up the ranks.

Chervenak says the promotion would be beneficial to the Bayou State because the Speaker could marshal legislation and has the ability to insert clauses in bills that could be advantageous for Louisiana.

Scalise announced his multiple myeloma diagnosis in August and fellow congressman Garrett Graves says Scalise needs to focus on his cancer battle instead because Speaker of the House is such a stressful job. Chervenak says despite the timing…

The rule that allows one House member to initiate a “motion to vacate” the Speaker, Chervenak says needs to be addressed as soon as possible because as long as it isn’t the lower chamber can easily be thrown into chaos…

The Harvey native attended West Jefferson High School and played his first three years of college football at Arkansas. He transferred to LSU in 2022 and was voted a team captain this season.

Brooks’ speech and ability to communicate have been impacted by the tumor that was located on his cerebellum and brainstem. Fortunately, after the tumor was removed there were no signs the cancer had spread. LSU announced today safety Greg Brooks has been diagnosed with a rare form of brain cancer called medulloblastoma. Brooks underwent surgery last month to remove a large tumor after complaining about dizzy spells. Doctors say the surgery was successful in removing the tumor and there is no evidence the cancer spread. But Brooks faces months of intensive rehabilitation. To help with his medical costs the Tiger Athletic Foundation has launched the Greg Brooks Victory Fund.

Six Saints players did not practice today as the team is getting ready to visit the New England Patriots on Sunday. Defensive tackle Bryan Bresee missed the practice because of an illness. Cornerback Lonnie Johnson has a hamstring injury and Andrus Peat is suffering from a concussion. Cesar Ruiz was a full participant for a first time since suffering a concussion against the Packers and cornerback Paulson Adebo, who has missed the last two weeks was limited.

The Louisiana High School Athletic Association is keeping the playoff format they had last year after high school principals voted not to change the definition of a select school. A former Tangipahoa Parish teacher is facing 3rd degree rape charges in connection with an alleged sexual relationship with a now 17 year old student. 33-year-old Morgan Freche was arrested yesterday. A police report alleges the 17 year old minor student fathered Freche’s child.

Attorney Franz Borghardt says a paternity test would confirm if the juvenile is the biological father or not.

Borghardt says the more serious crime of Third-Degree Rape, carries a prison sentence of up to 25 years…

Louisiana death row prisoners scheduled were scheduled to begin hearings next week but that will likely not happen because of a settlement was reached between district attorneys and the Louisiana Pardon Board. A legal effort to stop those hearings was led by East Baton Rouge DA Hillar Moore. Moore says this settlement means only a handful of death row inmates would be eligible for a hearing…
