The body of a missing Vermilion Parish woman has been found and her boyfriend has been arrested. An autopsy will determine how 49-year-old Bobbie Jo Saltzman died. Her 34-year-old boyfriend David Smith, originally from New Iberia, has been charged with hit and run and further charges are pending.

All 15 juvenile offenders placed at a temporary facility in Angola have been moved to a youth facility in Jackson Parish according to the state Office of Juvenile Justice. The lead plaintiff attorney David Utter says they’ll wait to see how the youths are treated before deciding if they will continue with the civil rights lawsuit…

Landry is reporting six-point-six million dollars in cash on hand. Republican John Schroder is reporting one-point-six million dollars, while Stephen Waguespack and Hunter have just over one-million dollars. Democrat Shawn Wilson has just 879-thousand dollars on hand.

Wildlife officials are encouraged by successful hatchings of the endangered Kemp’s ridley sea turtle on the Chandeleur Islands, which is off the southeastern coast of Louisiana. Coastal Resources scientist manager with LDWF, Matt Weigel, says the sea turtles were first spotted on the island last year and now there are over 100 sea turtle crawls on the island…

Weigel says it’s one of the highest-density nesting beaches in the northern Gulf of Mexico.

Weigel says 300-thousand birds also rely on the islands during the course of the year. But he says the Chandeleur Islands are disappearing and design plans to restore the islands are underway.

Donelon says SafePoint Insurance Company identified over 19 thousand Citizens policies that could be switched over to a private insurer.

After 45 years of service to Louisiana Tech, President Dr. Les Guice has announced he will retire at the end of the year.  Guice has served as President for the last 10 years. Among the biggest challenges Guice faced as president was the 2019 tornado that destroyed several buildings on campus.

Republican Jeff Landry, who is the frontrunner, did not participate in the first debate. Alford says Landry will not be afraid to respond to any criticism.

A recent directive issued by Louisiana Insurance Commissioner Jim Donelon orders agents to notify their Louisiana Citizen policyholders when they receive an offer to be placed with an affordable insurer in the private market. The insurance commissioner is concerned agents may be putting their own interests ahead of their policyholders.

Louisiana Tech University President Dr. Les Guice says he will retire at the end of the year. Guice says the student body is stronger and more engaged than ever and the freshman class is the largest in the school’s history.

A federal appeals court has ruled that juvenile offenders can stay at the Louisiana State Penitentiary for now. A federal judge ruled last week that they must be transferred to a juvenile detention facility, because they are not getting rehabilitation they need at Angola. The state Office of Juvenile Justice says they need more time to consider their options.

There will a balloon release today in place of a football game for the St. Helena student who was shot and killed on Tuesday. The family of Vernon Gordon Junior is hosting the memorial event in honor of the 16 year old who was killed by a fourteen year old in a shooting at St. Helena College and Career Academy.
