SWEPCO reports power has been restored to a great many customers who were blacked out Friday morning, as severe thunderstorms rolled through northwestern Louisiana. At one point more than 200-thousand homes and businesses were without power in Caddo, Bossier, DeSoto, Red River and Natchitoches parishes. As of this morning SWEPCO reports that’s down to several hundred. However, forecaster Shane Pendleton, with the National Weather Service in Shreveport, says the weather risk is not over…:

Gasoline in Louisiana is pretty costly, but a downright bargain, compared with just one year ago, when the statewide average price of regular was $4.56. Today it’s at $3.12. Louisiana AAA’s Don Redman says that’s because crude oil prices have retreated and demand is lower too…:

He expects a small price surge for July 4th, but otherwise stable prices through to Labor Day.

53-year-old Susan Johnson of Hammond, was killed by two vehicles Thursday night while trying to cross the road in Tangipahoa Parish. State Police say when Johnson was walking across Highway 3234 near Patti Drive she was struck by a 2020 Nissan Altima first and then a 2007 Toyota Yaris that was traveling behind the Nissan. The cause of the crash is under investigation.

SWEPCO – north Louisiana’s electric utility company – has discharged linemen to assess and restore utilities from more than 237,000 customers impacted by severe thunderstorms in northwest Louisiana. Crews are also working to support four regional hospitals in Shreveport, Louisiana, and Marshall and Longview Texas.

Louisiana is not the only state impacted by the cyberattack, the third-party data transfer service MOVEit is widely used around the world. Tingle says they know passwords were not included in the data that was involved in the breach.

Tingle says if you see unusual activity on your credit card, bank account or any other financial account notify the company associated with the account immediately.
