Wake Forest scored two runs off LSU’s starter Javen Coleman. But Griffin Herring entered the game in the second inning and threw 4.2 innings of scoreless baseball, striking out six. Gavin Guidry and Riley Cooper also performed well out of the pen and Cooper earned his second save in as many nights.

So the big question for tonight. Will Paul Skenes pitch. First pitch is at 6 PM, expect LSU to make announcement around 5 PM.

The lengthy investigation into recruiting violations and impermissible benefits involving the LSU football and men’s basketball programs is finally completed. Both programs have been put on three years probation, but no future postseason bans. Former LSU coach Will Wade, who is preparing for his first season as the men’s basketball coach at McNeese, gets a ten-game suspension and recruiting restrictions have been placed on him for the next two years.

Tonight is the NBA draft, the Pelcians have the 14th pick in the first round. There’s talk about about New Orleans trading Zion Williamson so they can draft G-League star Scoot Henderson. Or Jake Madison, host of the Locked On Pelicans podcast, says New Orleans could also trade down to get a big man…

Legislation to give homeowners the right to hire a public adjuster to handle property insurance claims goes into effect on August first. Bill author Chalmette Representative Ray Garafalo says it’s part of a package of bills aimed at easing the state’s property insurance crisis…:

A Slidell police officer was injured after his vehicle overturned in a ditch while attempting to stop an orange Dodge Charger near Highway 11 and Interstate 12 last night. The pursuit led into Lacombe on Highway 190 West. The officer suffered non-life-threatening injuries. The suspect is still at large.

SWEPCO says power has been restored to more than 200-thousand customers who lost power as a result of severe weather last Thursday night. In northwest Louisiana, there are still 22-thousand customers who do not have power. And the State Department of Health reports a 62-year-old Caddo Parish woman died after not having power for an extended period of time.

LSU beat Wake Forest last night, setting up another matchup tonight with the Demon Deacons. The loser goes home, while the winner advances to face Florida in the championship series. Bill author, Covington Representative Paul Hollis, admits going into the session he was doubtful lawmakers would approve a tax increase, especially during an election year.

St. Bernard Parish Republican Representative Ray Garafalo is the House sponsor of the bill. The “Protecting Teachers Rights Act” which provides teachers and administrators with civil and criminal immunity if they intervene in a physical fight on campus was signed into law by Governor John Bel Edwards. Denham Springs Representative Valarie Hodges – the bill author – says this gives teachers added protection.

The bill gained support from the House of Representatives and Senate.

The governor has also signed legislation requiring private health insurance to cover the cost of fertility preservation for those undergoing medical treatments for cancer or other illnesses that could affect their fertility. Baton Rouge Representative Paula Davis patients will now have the option to freeze their eggs or sperm before treatments begin.

Davis says this is welcome news to individuals who could be faced with a loss of fertility on top of a cancer diagnosis.

The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries is warning the public of potential fish kills due to scorching hot temperatures, extended cloudy weather, and storms. Aquatic organisms usually repopulate affected areas by dispersing from nearby, connected, unaffected areas. Inland Fisheries Technical Advisor Robby Maxwell says systems normally recover on their own.

LSU left-hander Nate Ackenhausen threw six shutout innings in a five-to-nothing win to eliminate Tennessee from the College World Series. Ackenhausen received a text yesterday morning that he would make his first start of the season… There’s a concern LSU does not have enough pitching, but Coach Jay Johnson does not share that concern…
