Governor John Bel Edwards is expected to get out the veto pen next week, as he’s said he would oppose bills seen as being “anti-LGBT” that came to his desk. But, will state lawmakers feel the need to go into special session to override any of those vetoes? Denham Springs Rep. Valarie Hodges says she wants it to happen, because the bills deal with transgender issues parents want to shield their kids from…:

Governor John Bel Edwards signed legislation banning the use of the social media app Tik Tok on any state-owned devices and state-owned or leased WIFI networks. Marksville Representative Daryl Deshotel, the bill’s author believes similar apps will continue to be a cyber security concern

The bill would also ban any other app or service developed by TikTok’s parent company, ByteDance, or entities the company owns.

Secretary of State Kyle Ardoin has proclaimed this Saturday, June 24th as “LSU Baseball Day” in honor of the Tigers baseball team making it to the C-W-S. Ardoin says he wanted to formally honor the team and he’s going to place a wager on the series with Florida’s Secretary of State Cory Byrd.

Following the massive restoration effort by SWEPCO crews 90 percent of customers impacted by Friday’s severe weather have had services restored. However, more than 10,000 customers remain without power in Shreveport district including Bossier City and Haughton.

After 11 innings the LSU Tigers won in dramatic fashion last night beating Wake Forest two nothing to advance to the championship round of the College World Series. After a Dylan Crews base hit in the 11th inning, Tommy White slugged a two-run shot over the left field wall. White says he was waiting on a fastball.

Saturday, June 24th has been declared “LSU Baseball Day.”  Secretary of State Kyle Ardoin made it official with a proclamation in honor of the Tigers baseball team making it to the championship round of the Men’s College World Series. After winning in extra innings last night, Ardoin says he wanted to formally honor the team.

Ardoin is also encouraging residents to dress in purple and gold to show their support.

The NCAA investigation into recruiting violations involving LSU’s men’s basketball and football programs is finally completed. Both programs have been put on a three-year probation, but no future postseason bans. TigerRag Editor Todd Horne says the conclusion of the investigation removes a dark cloud hanging over the head of current LSU Basketball Coach Matt McMahon.

The three-year probation for both teams begins in September.

Governor Edwards also signed legislation that bans corporal punishment in public schools statewide unless parents give written consent. Metairie Representative Stephanie Hilferty says the Department of Education is tasked with creating a permission slip for schools.

The Tigers vacating 37 football victories revolves around a booster-paying former offensive tackle Vadal Alexander’s father. The vacating of the 37 wins, drops former coach Les Miles’ winning percentage below 60-percent and he’s no longer available for the College Football Hall of Fame.

Three-point shooting was a weakness for the Pelicans last season, so in last night’s NBA draft New Orleans selected Connecticut’s Jordan Hawkins, considered the best three-point shooter in the draft. He made 39-percent of his three-point shots last season as a sophomore. He’s also a cousin of LSU star Angel Reese.

Tommy White sent Tiger fans into a frenzy when he blasted a two-run home run in the 11th for a two-to-nothing win over Wake Forest last night. It will go down as an iconic moment. LSU will face Florida in the championship series, which gets underway tomorrow night.

Ochsner Health and MD Anderson Cancer Center have partnered to build an Ochsner MD Anderson Cancer Center in southeast Louisiana with six facilities in the New Orleans area, Baton Rouge, and Covington. Medical director Dr. Brian Moore says the immediate impact of the partnership is a comprehensive multidisciplinary approach and the wider availability of clinical trials for patients in Louisiana.

Both programs will be on probation for the next three years, but no future postseason bans. Former LSU men’s basketball coach Will Wade has been suspended for 10 games at his new school McNeese State. Tiger Rag Editor Todd Horne says the Cowboys already planned to suspend him for the first five games…

But that play does not happen without terrific pitching by Paul Skenes and Thatcher Hurd. And how about the defensive play made first baseman Tre Morgan in the 8th inning. He came charging in on a bunt to throw a runner out at the plate. Coach Jay Johnson says they were prepared for that moment….
