The Tigers defense held Arkansas to 249 yards of total offense. Freshman Harold Perkins had an outstanding game as he had eight tackles and four sacks. And for the second consecutive week, Perkins was named SEC Defensive Player of the Week and he was named the Walter Camp Defensive Player of the Week.

The Saints are now tied for last place in the NFC South with a three and seven record after losing to Pittsburgh 20-10 yesterday. New Orleans will host the Rams this Sunday. The reigning Super Bowl champs are 3-and-6.

The Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s Office is investigating the sudden death of an inmate, who is the father of former LSU linebacker Devin White. Thomas was in the Natchitoches Parish jail awaiting trial on federal charges, when he began to complain about severe back pain. Authorities say Thomas became unresponsive on his way to the hospital and died a short time later.

Authorities say a former player on the Virginia football team fatally shot three current players on the Cavaliers and injured two others during an on campus shooting. The suspect, Christopher Darnell Jones Junior is in custody. One of the surviving victims is former University High of Baton Rouge running back Michael Hollins. He’s reportedly in stable condition after undergoing surgery and is expected to undergo surgery tomorrow.

And Pope John High School in Slidell is mourning over the death of football player, Christian Tullis. He died in a car wreck on Friday night, his dad is the head coach of the volleyball team that played in a state championship game on Saturday and lost to Newman.

Former Baton Rouge University High football standout Michael Hollins is recovering from gunshot wounds sustained in the shooting at the University of Virginia. Three UVA football players were killed. Hollins and one other survived the shooting. A suspect is in custody. Hollins is in stable condition following a surgery.

 

In a statement released this morning, Senator John Kennedy says he is considering entering the 2023 race for governor.  Political analyst Bernie Pinsonat thinks the Democrat’s victories in the Senate will influence Kennedy’s decision…:

The handcuffed and shackled man fell three floors; landing on a sidewalk. He is alive, and being treated at an Alexandria hospital. An investigation into how he got loose is underway.

Police in Bossier City were called out to a home after a homeless man discovered some suspicious bones inside a house. After getting a warrant from the owner, they took a look and found the bones…which were from a turkey.

Shortly before one o’clock Sunday afternoon, the earth moved for folks in Blanchard. Geophysicist Paul Caruso with the US Geological Service confirms an earthquake took place in Caddo Parish, about 16 miles west-northwest of Shreveport.

This is the second earthquake in the area in just over a year and a half. In 2021 a 3.0 magnitude earthquake was reported on April Fools. Caruso describes what residents experienced during Sunday’s quake.

Hardin says she’s been in touch with other families who’ve lost a loved one from police brutality and yet nothing has been done to correct the issue. She says since Greene’s murder, she remains in denial and a trance to cope with his brutal death.

She says her brother wasn’t naturally athletic but became an accomplished volleyball player anyway and played on the football team…

The suspected shooter, Christopher Jones, is a former Cavalier football player. Michael Hollins reportedly underwent surgery that went well.

The Saints gave further evidence that their season is going nowhere as New Orleans lost in Pittsburgh yesterday to the Steelers 20-10. The loss drops the Black and Gold’s record to three and seven, tied with Carolina for last place in the NFC South. Coach Dennis Allen is not concerned about losing the locker room…

The Saints host the Rams this Sunday and Allen would not discuss whether Andy Dalton will remain the starting quarterback.

Tragedy at the University of Virginia as three football players were fatally shot in an on-campus shooting. The suspected gunman is former Cavalier football player Chris Jones who is in custody. Two other U-V-A football players are also injured by gunfire, including former University High of Baton Rouge running back Michael Hollins, who reportedly had a surgery that went well.

LSU beat Arkansas 13-10 on Saturday and Alabama’s win over Ole Miss secured an SEC West Championship for the Tigers in coach Brian Kelly’s first season. It was not a good day for the Tigers offense in Fayetteville as quarterback Jayden Danels threw for only 86 yards and rushed for ten yards and was sacked seven times. Kelly gives credit to Arkansas, but also says more could have been done to protect Daniels…

Over the weekend it was determined that Democrats will have control of the Senate in January. Control of the U-S House is still to be determined.

A grand jury in the Third Judicial District convenes today seeking indictments against State Troopers involved in the 2019 beating death of Black motorist Ronald Greene. It doesn’t appear the federal government will bring charges against those troopers and Loyola University Law Professor Dane Ciolino says that doesn’t preclude the state from bringing charges.

State health Officer Dr. Joe Kanter says Louisiana could be in for a rough winter, with COVID still present, RSV spreading among kids and the annual “flu season.” Kanter says this news may come as a surprise because the midterm elections have dominated the news…:
