Then on Saturday, it’s Arkansas versus Stanford with Ole Miss and Auburn closing out the night. The SEC leads the way with four teams in Omaha, six if you count future members Oklahoma and Texas.

The Golden State Warriors are one win away from claiming their fourth NBA title in the last eight seasons after beating the Boston Celtics 104-94 in Game 5 of the NBA Finals. Andrew Wiggins collected his second straight double-double with 26 points and 13 rebounds and Golden State won despite Steph Curry playing his first career playoff game without making a three-pointer, ending a streak of 132 postseason games with at least one three and 223 straight games overall. Jayson Tatum led the Celtics with 27 points and 10 boards in the loss. Game 6 is Wednesday night in Boston.

And Tulane catcher Bennett Lee, who batted a school-record .440 as a freshman, announced he will transfer to Wake Forest.

Golden State took three games to two lead in the NBA Finals. Steph Curry only scored 16 points and didn’t make a three-pointer, but Andrew Wiggins stepped up for the Warriors with 26 points and grabbed 13 rebounds. Game six is in Boston on Thursday.

Barbe’s Gavin Guidry has been named the Class 5A Baseball Player of the Year. Guidry was 8-0 on the mound with a 0.16 ERA. West Monroe’s Wade Simoneaux was named Coach of the Year as he guided the Rebels to their first baseball title since 1999.

The GOP majorities in the House & Senate pushed through a map with only one majority minority district. Blacks make up one-third of the state’s voters, so many feel two of our six districts should be Black majority. New Iberia Representative Blake Miguez says the 5th U.S. Circuit Appeals court’s ruling is a tall order…:

A federal judge has given Louisiana until June 20th to submit a map that reflects two majority-minority districts. Miguez says that is insufficient time to put such a map through the process…:

Miguez says the federal judge could have allowed more time for legal objections to the existing map – passed back in February – to play out in the court system. But, he says, he and colleagues will have to go back to Baton Rouge and do the best they can…:

Another first for new Saints head coach Dennis Allen today as the team opens its mandatory minicamp. Ross Jackson, the host of the Locked On Saints podcast, says from rookie camp to OTAs, Allen’s approach has been well-received.

There are plenty of players to watch, with so many new additions to the roster. Jackson says a heavy dose of attention will be focused on this year’s rookie class, highlighted by dual first-rounders: wide receiver Chris Olave and left tackle Trevor Penning.

Last season at this time the Saints’ defensive secondary and wide receiver positions were the positional groups that had the biggest questions surrounding them. This season both look fully stocked, and Jackson says there are new position battles to monitor that will be just as intriguing.

Senator Bill Cassidy and a bipartisan group of senators propose a bill to curb the threat of school violence and preserve Second Amendment rights. The bill calls for more thorough background checks on 18-to-21-year-olds because their juvenile record could have been expunged. After the Parkland shooting in 2018, Cassidy says similar legislation was proposed but this bill strengthens the mental health component.

Based on a ruling Sunday by a federal appeals court, Louisiana’s Legislature may be required to approve a new Congressional District map with two black-majority districts.
