Tigers fans lined the streets outside the LSU Football Operations building to greet their heroes returning home from their triumphant 42-25 win over Clemson last night in the Dome.  Here’s the moment those first sirens announcing the team’s arrival could be heard by the roughly 300 fans who showed up to cheer on the returning team.

Many fans lined up hours ahead of time to get a good view of the team as they made their way back to the Capital from the Crescent City.

LSU’s undefeated national championship season puts them in the debate as the greatest college football team ever.  Junior Safety Grant Delpit says he knows people in Louisiana will be talking about this team for years to come

While many throughout the state may be showing love for Coach Ed Orgeron, no one is more excited about his success than those in the area where he grew up.  Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Lt. Brennan Matherne says there is now a grassroots effort in place to get Orgeron to be a grand marshal in one of the parish’s Mardi Gras parades this year.

Clemson may have had a rough game as a whole, but Jennings native, running back Travis Etienne played well with 114 total yards and a touchdown on five yards a carry.  Etienne is NFL draft-eligible after completing his third season in college. This could be his last hurrah in college, but he’s not ready to start reminiscing just yet.

He’s ranked as the top running back prospect, and a lock for the 1st round in the 2020 draft, if he decides to declare.

The national champion LSU football team has arrived back in Baton Rouge. The team’s charter buses returned to the team’s football operations center at around noon today. Wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase says it’s extra special to win in New Orleans…

And they are celebrating in Larose today, the hometown of LSU head coach Ed Orgeron. Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Lt. Brennan Matherne says the majority of the parish has supported Coach, even when he was working with other football programs out of the state…

Baton Rouge and LSU are working on the details of a parade for the national champion Tigers that will begin at LSU’s school of music on Saturday.

A lot of Louisianans are sleep-deprived as they stayed up late to watch the Tigers win their fourth national championship in school history. This LSU fan was celebrating at a local watering hole in Baton Rouge last night…

LSU’s offense gets a lot of the headlines for last night’s 42-25 victory over Clemson in the national championship game. But the Tigers defense forced a high-powered Clemson offense to punt nine times as the other Tigers were 1-of-11 on third downs. Clemson quarterback Trevor Lawrence had won 25 straight games, but last night he was a mediocre 18 of 27 for 234 yards, no touchdowns and he fumbled once.

Patrick Queen had a big game. The junior from Livonia High School had eight tackles, including 2.5 tackles for a loss and he was credited with a half-sack.

Not sure if there were a lot of people watching, but the Pelicans beat the Pistons 117 to 110 overtime last night. Jahlil Okafor had 25 points and 14 rebounds as New Orleans played without Brandon Ingram, J-J Redick and Derrick Favors because of injuries.

The Tigers are on top of the world and planners are hard at work drawing up Saturday’s national championship parade after LSU wiped Clemson 42-25 in New Orleans last night. It’s the end of a season that some argue is the most impressive in college football history. Coach Ed Orgeron, who was part of national championship teams as an assistant at Miami and USC, says it’s for the media to decide if the Tigers are the best team

Political analyst Bernie Pinsonat says the move temporarily boosts the short-term political prospects of moderate Republicans who backed Schexnayder, but it’s most likely damaging to their long-term political careers.

According to an AL.Com report… Joe Burrow and several of his teammates lit up cigars in the locker room to celebrate their victory, and a security guard threatened to arrest the players when he reminded them that smoking is not allowed in the building. Several players laughed and thought he was joking considering they had just won the national championship. No arrests have been reported. Burrow was also photographed with a cigar at the post-game press conference.

A surprise result for House Speaker yesterday as a Republican, Clay Schexnayder, won the job but most of his support was from Democrats. Political analyst Bernie Pinsonat says it was a blow to Senator John Kennedy and AG Jeff Landry, who pushed all Republicans to vote for the Speaker. But Pinsonat says it’s not necessarily a defeat for the two Republican leaders…
