The president says this LSU team will be remembered as one of the greatest in college football history.  The team went 15-0 on route to beating more top ten teams in one year than any team in college football history.

This weekend is the 9th annual Louisiana Marathon in Baton Rouge. Festivities kick off today at the Raising Cane’s River Center with an expo and continues with a series of races throughout the weekend. Marathon spokesperson Jennifer Macha (ma-ha) says it’s a big economic driver.

The Board of Elementary and Secondary Education has started the process of finding a new Superintendent of Education to replace John White, who overhauled the ways schools and teachers are graded in Louisiana during his tenure. BESE member Holly Boffy says the new Superintendent will be judged by that new criteria.

Advanced Aero Services announces the launch of its maintenance, repair, and overhaul facility in Shreveport that is expected to create sixty direct jobs by 2021.  AAS President Mike Anderson says he looked at various sites across the country before settling on Shreveport for meeting all the criteria he was looking for.

The Board of Elementary and Secondary Education names a working group tasked with putting together a search for the next Superintendent of Education after John White’s resignation letter was officially handed in at yesterday’s meeting. District Seven member Holly Boffy thanked White for his service to the state and says he left Louisiana in a stronger position.

The national champion Tigers visited the White House today in celebration of their perfect season. Quarterback Joe Burrow presented the President with a number 45 LSU jersey, and President Trump joked he thought Burrow was going to give him the Heisman Trophy. Burrow says the trip to the White House is a great way to cap off the season

What a great win for the Pelicans last night as they ended the Utah Jazz’s 10-game winning streak with a 138 to 132 overtime victory at the Smoothie King Center. Brandon Ingram scored a career-high 49 points. It appeared Ingram won the game in regulation with a jump shot in the final second. But after a timeout, Utah inbounded the ball and a questionable call was called against the Pels. That allowed Rudy Gobert to tie the game as he split two free throws. After falling behind in O-T, the Pels took control in the extra period and won for the 10th time in there last 14 games. New Orleans hosts the Clippers tomorrow.

Louisiana Tech had an easy win over Rice 72-56 for the Bulldogs ninth consecutive home victory. ULM lost 64-63 to Texas State and Texas-Arlington beat the Ragin Cajuns 81-65.

LSU linebacker K’Lavon Chaisson has declared for the N-F-L draft. That’s now eight LSU underclassmen who made the decision to turn pro.

Saints running back Alvin Kamara has been added to the N-F-C Pro Bowl team. That’s now eleven members of the Black and Gold on the pro bowl squad.

59-year-old Myrna Thomas Quarles is set to serve 71 months in federal prison for stealing over million dollars by defrauding a federal summer lunch program for hungry children who are out of school. The case is linked to a fraudulent company Quarles set up in 2014 and 2015 that handed out some food to kids, but significantly overstated the amount of work it did to overbill the feds.
