Johnson has concerns the impeachment proceedings will not be conducted fairly. He says precedent calls for the House Judiciary to consider matters of impeachment, instead House leadership has decided to allow two other committees to conduct impeachment proceedings

Four new artificial reef sites are underway in Lake Borgne and the Mississippi Sound. Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries inshore reef biologist Ashley Ferguson Ferguson says the sites are being constructed in an effort to enhance the fish habitat as well as provide an excellent recreational fishing opportunities for inshore anglers.

The President will be in Bossier City tonight, his last scheduled trip of the campaign. But political analyst Roy Fletcher feels Trump’s visit isn’t likely to move the needle much in the incredibly tight race.

Attorney General Jeff Landry says police officers, firefighters, and other first responders are allowed to go to tonight’s Trump rally, despite concerns about the legality of state workers at political rallies. Landry says he got a call from Congressman Mike Johnson and Representative Alan Seabaugh and had his lawyers dig into the question. He says they found ample constitutional support for the decision.

LSU football coach Ed Orgeron found himself earning praise on his radio show from a caller who identified himself as “John B. from Amite”  … That caller was Governor John Bel Edwards.  The Governor congratulated the coach for the big win over Alabama, expressed his pride in LSU, and commended Orgeron for representing the state well during his postgame interview.

A movie called “Christmas in Louisiana” showcases New Iberia to a national audience this Saturday night on the Lifetime Channel, but a public screening takes place tonight for locals.  Mayor Freddie Decourt says filmmakers were incentivized to film in the area because off city facilities to be used at no charge.  Plus many building owners also put up their properties at no charge.

Prosecutors are still considering whether they’ll pursue the death penalties against a 27-year-old woman who has been indicted in the first-degree murder in the death of a six-month old child. Authorities say Hanna Nicole Barker helped the child’s mother stage a kidnapping of the child, who was later found in a ditch with severe burns covering 90-percent of the infant’s body.

The Louisiana Stadium and Exposition District is set to approve a contract today that will lead to the renovation of the Mercedes-Benz Superdome. At today’s meeting, architectural renderings of the renovation will be made public. Phase one of the construction is expected to begin in January.

The number of opioid-related deaths continues to rise in Louisiana. That’s according to a report from the Advisory Council on Heroin and Prevention. But Council chair, Doctor James Hussey, says they have seen some bright spots in the fight against the opioid epidemic. There’s been a decline in the number of opioid prescriptions written and an increase in addicts who have enrolled in substance abuse treatment. But Hussey says the health care community can still do better when it comes to treatment.
