TV viewership for the LSU-Florida game was the highest for the network in nearly two years. On average there were six-point-four million viewers and it peaked late in the fourth quarter at seven-point-four million.

A University of Alabama student has been arrested on a terrorizing charge after he allegedly called in a threat to Tiger Stadium, during the LSU-Florida game. 19-year-old Connor Bruce Croll was arrested in Tuscaloosa and he’ll face charges in Baton Rouge.

The media picks LSU basketball to finish third in the SEC after winning the conference championship with a 16-and-2 league record last season. Senior guard Skylar Mays earned a spot on the league’s preseason second team. He averaged 13 points a game last season. Kentucky is the favorite to win the SEC, followed by Florida, LSU, Auburn and then Tennessee.

The 5-and-1 Saints are off today and tomorrow the players will begin to work on the Chicago Bears. The Monsters of Midway are allowing just 14 points a game. But one of their best defensive players was put on injured reserve today. Former Saint and pro bowl defensive tackle Akeim Hicks is out with an elbow injury. The Bears are a three-point favorite.

Lakeshore High School in Mandeville is the new number one team in Class Four-A. The Titans are 6-0 and coming off a shutout win over Archbishop Hannan. St. Thomas More fell from the top spot after back-to-back losses to Catholic of Baton Rouge and Westgate. Karr is ranked third, Neville has moved up a spot to fourth, Northwood is ranked fifth and Bastrop has moved up three spots to number six.

State Police have responded to allegations of hazing at the academy by reassigning three trainers linked to training exercises that injured up to ten cadets, including one that had a fractured arm. Captain J-B Slaton says the injuries occurred during defensive tactics training and they are investigating. State Police did not say the believe the actions were hazing but did say the training went beyond “normal parameters”.

It is day four of rescue operations at the Hard Rock Hotel collapse in New Orleans and officials remain hopeful that a missing construction worker may be found still alive.  There has been no shift in the structure or cranes, but New Orleans Fire Chief Tim McConnell says with the uncertainty of stability, they are being very thorough in accounting for rescue workers.

Authorities believe they have narrowed down the possible location of the missing individual.  McConnell says workers have been informed of an audible cue in the event that movement is detected in the structure that could result in further collapse.

A freshman from the University of Alabama is arrested, suspected of calling a threat to Tiger Stadium during the LSU’s game with the Florida Gators. 19-year-old Connor Croll was booked into the Tuscaloosa Country jail early Sunday. Croll is being held without bond and is expected to face charges in Baton Rouge.

The US Department of Education awards Louisiana $115 million in grants.  A total of five grants will help support students and teachers over several years. Superintendent of Education John White says the next step for schools to obtain a portion of the money is figuring out the best distribution.

According to ESPN, Six-point-four million watched the game, which is the network’s most watch game in nearly two years.

The Saints are reportedly working out 30-year-old running back Travaris Cadet today. Cadet has already had two stints with the Black and Gold. He first joined the Saints in 2012 as an undrafted rookie. Coach Sean Payton said running back Alvin Kamara tweaked his knee during the Jacksonville game.

LSU basketball has been picked to finish third in the SEC preseason poll involving media members who cover the SEC and the national college hoops scene. The Tigers are defending SEC champs and there top returning player is guard Skylar Mays, who is on the league’s preseason second team. Kentucky is the favorite to win the SEC, followed by Florida, LSU, Auburn and then Tennessee.

Nicholls has moved up to number nine in the latest STATS FCS Top 25 ranking. The Colonels defeated Northwestern State 45-35. Nicholls is at Sam Houston State this Saturday. Southeastern Louisiana is also out of the Top 25, after losing to Incarnate Word. The Lions are off this week.

St. George is set to become the newest city in Louisiana following a vote that sees the area break away from Baton Rouge.  St. George spokesperson Drew Murrell says for the next step, the Governor will soon appoint a mayor and city council.

Republican gubernatorial candidate Eddie Rispone’s rise from unknown to GOP standard-bearer has come as a surprise as many analysts underrated Rispone’s straight forward branding as a President Trump-loving businessman. The President and Vice President visited Louisiana the week before the election.
