An Alabama fan from Louisiana has died from his injuries sustained in a bar fight in Ponchatoula. Police Chief Bry Layrisson says 46-year-old Robert Bowers got into an argument with two other men Sunday morning and was sucker punched and then jumped on….

Bowers passed away Tuesday. 27-year-old Azia Crocket and 24-year-old Ryan Anthony have each been charged with manslaughter. Layrisson says they can’t say for sure if the L-S-U-Alabama game started the fight.

The special election for the Secretary of State’s seat is heading for a December 8th runoff. Kevin Barnhart has the story.

Political Analyst Bernie Pinsonat says Stokes disappointing finish will hurt future efforts at statewide offices….

Senator John Kennedy says the vaunted Blue Wave ended up being more of a Blue Dribble as the Democrats took control of the House, and flipped seven governorships, but lost seats in the Senate.He says none of the events last night have swayed his decision on whether or not he’s running for Governor, but noted a Republican challenger would stand a good chance given Democrats and Edwards’ allies underperformed in the Secretary of State’s race.

Kennedy is set to announce his intentions for the 2019 governor’s race by December 1st.

Dez Bryant is set to become a New Orleans Saint as he’s reportedly agreed to a deal with the Black and Gold. Bryant was released by Dallas in April after failing to live up to a five-year, 70-million dollar contract. The Saints are looking for another receiver to compliment Michael Thomas.

LSU comes in number seven in the latest college football playoff rankings.

Les Miles is reportedly up for the head coaching job at Kansas.

The college basketball season tipped off last night with LSU trouncing Southeastern Louisiana 94-63. Five-star recruit Naz Reid had 17 points and six rebounds.

Louisiana Tech had an impressive opening night as the Bulldogs beat Wichita State 71-58. Daquan Bracey had 16 points to lead the way.

Constitutional Amendment 2 has passed, so beginning with arrests in 2019 an unanimous jury decision will be needed for a conviction in felony cases, instead of the current standard of 10 of 12 jurors.  Loyola University Law Professor Dane Ciolino says there will still be trials that will take place under the old system after Amendment 2 becomes law.

Over two million dollars was raised for a campaign in support of the amendment.

Fantasy sports fans are asking what’s next now that several parishes have legalized online fantasy sports betting, and the only answer we do have is: you’ll have to wait until the next legislative sessions to find out. Public Affairs Research Council President Robert Scott says if you live in a parish that shot down the idea, then you’ll likely be frozen out of online services, but the answer isn’t quite that simple.

And in other election news, all six Louisiana incumbent Congressmen won reelection last night by healthy margins. The only race that was somewhat close was in the 3rd district, where Clay Higgins grabbed 55 percent of the vote, avoiding a run-off that would have been scheduled for December.

The Saints have a new face in the receiving core: former Cowboy Pro Bowler Dez Bryant. The outspoken wide out has been without a team since his release this summer, but dropped by New Orleans yesterday for a try out that apparently went pretty well. He’ll join Mike Thomas and rookie Trequan Smith in a receiving core that’s lacked depth this year.

The statewide unofficial turnout was 48-percent.

Constitutional Amendment 2 passed on a 64-36 vote and Louisiana will soon require an unanimous jury decision for a felony conviction.///

47 of Louisiana’s 64 parishes voted for the proposition to legalize online fantasy sports games for cash prices. The rural parishes that voted against it are located mostly in north Louisiana. The legislature will need to establish regulations in next year’s regular session.

Louisiana voters have approved Amendment Two which ends split jury verdicts for serious felony convictions. The amendment takes effect January 1st, so Loyola University Law Professor Dane Ciolino says anyone who is arrested for a felony crime before 2019, the current 10 of 12 jurors standard will be in place…

Interim Secretary of State Kyle Ardoin and Gwen Collins-Greenup are in a December run-off in the special election for Secretary of State. Ardoin replaced former Secretary of State Tom Schedler, who stepped down because of sexual harassment allegations. Collins-Greenup is a political newcomer from East Feliciana Parish.

Successful start to the season for the LSU basketball team, who dominated Southeastern Louisiana 94-63 last night. Six Tigers scored in double figures. Freshman forward Emmitt Williams recorded his first double-double, 12 points and 10 rebounds.

Louisiana Tech pulled off a shocking win last night as the Bulldogs defeated Wichita State 71-58 in front of 10-thousand fans last night at the Charles Koch Arena. The Shockers had won 72 of their last 75 home games. Tech dominated the glass and junior DaQuan Bracey had a game-high 16 points.

The Ragin Cajuns shot 67-percent from the field as UL-Lafayette beat the University of Virgina Islands 121-80. ULM beat Jackson State 75-66 as Daishon Smith had 24 points and was 5-of-6 from three point territory.

Nicholls, UNO and Northwestern State were also winners.

The NFL Network is reporting the Saints and former Cowboys receiver Dez Bryant are working on a deal that would bring the ex All-Pro pass catcher to New Orleans. Bryant worked out for the Saints yesterday, but left town without a contract, but the interest reportedly remains high betwen Bryant and the Saints.

Former LSU head coach Les Miles may return to coaching. There are reports that Kansas has Miles at the top of their list to become the next head coach of the Jayhawks.

Despite the shutout loss to Alabama, LSU is seventh in the College Football playoff rankings. The Tigers are at Arkansas this Saturday and temperatures are expected to be around 40-degrees. Quarterback and Ohio native Joe Burrow is ready for the cold, but doesn’t have advice for his teammates….
