Three 13-year-olds have been arrested by the Grant Parish Sheriff’s Office after a student overheard them planning a shooting at Grant Junior High and reported it to authorities.  They are facing charges of terrorizing.

A threat to Hammond High School was posted early this morning to social media, resulting in the school being closed before students arrived in the morning. Police on the scene now to make sure campus is safe.

The Coastal Protection and Restoration Authority is working on a $34 million project that will use rock-filled sacks to protect the Rockefeller Wildlife Refuge in Cameron Parish.  The so-called pillows, which are about the size of a small car, are being placed by crane along a 3-mile stretch of shoreline.  Authority project manager Bevin Barringer says the coastal erosion is a major concern for the area.

Heavy rainfall has led to road closures along Interstate 20 this morning. Aaron Davis, with the National Weather Service in Shreveport, says some areas saw 3.5 inches of rainfall as a result of a stalled frontal boundary that was pumped up with moisture thanks to winds out of the south

It’s another Black and Gold victory Monday as the Saints had little trouble beating Cincinnati 51-14 yesterday. Quarterback Drew Brees threw three touchdown passes, two of them to Michael Thomas. Running back Mark Ingram had his first 100-yard rushing performance of the season and the defense sacked Bengals quarterback Andy Dalton four times and picked him off twice. Head Coach Sean Payton says it was a well balanced game…

New Orleans has won eight straight and they’ll host the Eagles on Sunday.

We’ve seen heavy rainfall along I-20 corridor, flooding several roads, which have led to some closures. The ULM weather lab says three inches of rain has fallen near Forsythe Park in Monroe. And we have a tornado watch until noon for the coastal parishes.

The Secretary of State’s run-off pits the now Interim Secretary, against a Democratic political new comer from East Feliciana. Interim Secretary Kyle Ardoin, the Republican in the race was appointed assistant secretary to Tom Schedler in 2010, and says his eight years in a leadership position in that office makes him the most qualified candidate.

The Democrat, Gwen Collins-Greenup, a minister who worked elections at the East Feliciana Clerks Office, says her door to door campaign style reflects her opinion that politicians should do more to connect with the personal needs of constituents.

Shreveport Police have released the identities of the two people found in a burned out car last Thursday. They are 43-year-old Kelly Jose and 33-year-old Heather Jose. Detectives believe 34-year-old Dewayne Wille Watkins murdered the couple after they gave him a ride after meeting at a local mall. Watkins’ bond is one-million dollars.

The Saints scored on their first nine possessions. They didn’t score on their last drive, because the team took a knee to end the game. Drew Brees threw for 265 yards and three touchdowns. Michael Thomas caught two of those touchdown passes. The defense was great too as they held the Bengals to 284 yards of offense.

NFC South foes Atlanta and Tampa Bay also lost, while the Rams won, holding on to beat Seattle. New Orleans will host Philadelphia this Sunday at 3:25. The Eagles are coming off a home loss to Dallas.

LSU holds steady in the major college football polls as they are ranked 10th. The Tigers host 1-and-10 Rice on Saturday at 6:30.

Louisiana Tech beat Rice on Saturday 28-13 as Jaqwis Dancy had a career-high three touchdowns and Adrian Hardy caught a career-high 10 passes. The Bulldogs will be at Hattiesburg on Saturday to face Southern Miss.

ULM is bowl eligible after beating South Alabama on Saturday. With a win this Saturday over South Al, the Ragin Cajuns can become bowl eligible. UL Lafayette coach Billy Napier says he’s still looking for his team to put it all together…

LSU heads into its final home game of the year of the with an 8-2 record after holding on to beat Arkansas 24-17 on a frigid night in Fayetteville. The Tigers looked like they were going to win this game going away, but the Hogs scored two fourth quarter touchdowns. Coach Ed Orgeron was happy, even though the game got close…

UL-Lafayette rushed for a season-high 355 yards in a 36-22 win over Georgia State. Running back Raymond Calais had a career-high 186 yards rushing and three touchdowns. Coach Billy Napier says Raymond has developed over time….

Secretary of State candidate Gwen Collins-Greenup is the surprise of the midterms, as the Democrat will head to a run-off against Interim Secretary Kyle Ardoin. Collins-Greenup was just 10 thousand votes shy of topping the Interim Secretary, despite little fundraising and not securing the Democratic Party’s backing, which went to 3rd place candidate Renee Fontenot Free. She says she never viewed herself as an underdog.

Collins-Greenup raised less than 3,000 dollars for her run. The run-off election will be held December 8th.

LSU will face an Arkansas team today that has just two wins. Tigers Coach Ed Orgeron is eager to see how his team bounces back from the Alabama loss…

If LSU wins its remaining three remaining games they’ll likely play in one of the New Year’s Six bowl games. Orgeron says winning 10 games is the goal.

The hype is not as high as it was last weekend when the Tigers and Saints hosted a pair of undefeated football teams, but it’s still a big weekend for the LSU and New Orleans. The Black and Gold are at Cincinnati to face the 5 and 3 Bengals. In the Saints win over the Rams last week, they held Rams superstar running back Todd Gurley to 68 yards rushing. Linebacker A-J Klein says they face another good ball carrier on Sunday in Joe Mixon…

Democrat Gwen Collins-Greenup shocked many analysts in the midterm as the East Feliciana Parish Minister and Elections Office worker made the run-off for Secretary of State. Jeff Palermo has more.

The mother of an infant that was found burned alive in a barn in Natchitoches has been indicted on 1st degree murder. 23-year-old Hannah Baker allegedly asked her partner, Felicia Smith to murder her child. On July 17th, police say Smith set took the child from Bakers home and set it on fire, but Baker says her child was stolen against her will during a break in.

A 17-year-old is dead following a single vehicle crash last night just after 9PM.  Louisiana State Police responded to a crash on US Hwy 165 just north of Bastrop.  LSP spokesperson Senior Trooper Michael Reichardt says the vehicle was southbound when, for reasons still under investigation, the driver lost control.

The driver was buckled up and sustained only minor injuries.  Reichardt says the teen who died was not wearing a safety belt.

And it’s been a cold one this morning, and forecasters say you’ll need to keep that sweater, hoodie, or whatever cold weather clothes you have with you on for a bit longer.  National Weather Service Slidell Meteorologist says south Louisiana can expect highs in the mid to upper 50s for Saturday and Sunday into the low 60s.  sorth Louisiana will struggle to get out of the 40s.
