Hammond is hosting its first airshow in 26 years tomorrow at the Regional Airport, with a packed lineup featuring sky divers, classic bi-planes, and a fighter jet worth hundreds of millions of dollars. Hammond Mayor Pete Panepinto says visitors will have a chance to see the high tech F-22 in action.
Cut 4 (09) “…the government.”
The Mayor says of the 300 airshows that requested the F-22, Hammond was one of 28 whose bid was accepted.
And if you’re less about 400 million dollar fighters, and more into the classics…
Cut 5 (11) “28 displays”
Panepinto says the show has been in the works for three years, and took 200 thousand dollars of investment to put together.
That’s along with an extensive line up of hot-rodded customs, a B-1 Bomber, a jet engine powered pick-up truck, a flying circus comedy show, dueling WW2 era P-51s, and a visit from the Misty Blues.
Cut 6 (11) “…the game.”
The shows run from 11AM to 4PM, and tickets are 17 bucks a pop.

The Mega Millions jackpot for tonight is almost a billion dollars, and that’s got coworkers and friends dreaming big about pooling money for a better crack at the prize. But Lottery Lawyer Jason Kirkland says before you put in for the office pool, you need to cover yourself legally by getting written consent, and documenting everything to prevent a potential nightmare if you do end up winning.
Cut 10 (09) “the pools“
That being said, Kirkland highly recommends against joining with anyone else to up your odds in what could be a billion dollar transaction. He says your chances are still nearly nonexistent, but if you do win, you’ll be fighting everyone else for your slice of the pie.
Cut 11 (10) “…these nightmares”
But if you do win, either as part of a group or by yourself, celebrate, soak it in, and then immediately sign your ticket and absolutely do not tell anyone else you’ve won before bringing your winner to officials.
Cut 12 (11) financial team
Tonight’s drawing is at 10PM.

The Smithsonian Institute will now be the new home for more than 100-thousand preserved crustaceans collected by UL Lafayette researchers over the past four decades. The collection is likely the largest archive of gene sequence quality specimen of its kind. UL Lafayette Professor Darryl Felder says the collection fills a void at the facility.
Cut 13 (10) “…the Smithsonian holdings.”
Felder says this area of the Gulf of Mexico has quite the diverse collection of species.
Cut 14 (07) “…kinds of things here”
While it’s unlikely it will be on public display, Felder says the collection is heading to a giant facility where they house content like dinosaur bones and giant squids. He adds it’s rewarding to see the collection in good hands.
Cut 15 (09) “…it should be.”

The Black and Gold roll into Baltimore Sunday to take on the Baltimore Ravens, the only team in the entire league that Drew Brees has not beat dating back to his days in San Diego. The Saint’s will be met NFL’s number one defense that’s terrorized quarterbacks over the first six weeks, leading the league in sacks, something Brees is well aware of…
Cut 18 (18) “…strong powerful.”
And it’s a number one defense that will be led by one of the greatest sack masters in NFL history, outside linebacker Terrell Suggs, a player who Brees says the whole offense is well aware of.
Cut 19 (18) “..for the game.”
Suggs has 4 and a half sacks on the year, and 130 since his start in 2003.
Brees says they aren’t treating the Ravens any differently just because of his history with the birds, but admitted he knows the score and is looking forward to wrapping up his run of bad luck against a team that’s featured some fearsome defenses.
Cut 20 (15) “those scores”
The game kicks off at 3PM.
