It may be a warmer than normal winter outlook across most of the country, but forecasts say Louisiana will be in for an average Bayou Winter, with above average rain totals. State Climatologist Barry Keim says that’s due to the likely presence of a weak El Nino that’s sending cloudy weather our way.
Cut 9 (10) “than normal”
That weak El Nino will mean more stormy weather for the gulf coast, but Keim says they aren’t the same as those Hurricane Season monsters that pummel us during summer.
And for those excited about a great possibility of snow due to the higher than average rainfall totals, Keim says you may want to temper your expectations.
No part of the country is expected to see colder than normal temperatures this season.
