During the campaign, Cantrell was accused of misusing the city’s credit card as a city councilwoman. Attorney General Jeff Landry says the investigation is ongoing. Cantrell’s office has denied any wrongdoing.

A one-month-old and eight-year-old were killed in a two vehicle wreck last night on Interstate 10 near Sorrento. The driver of the other vehicle, 47-year-old Stephen Daigle of Gonzales was arrested and charged with negligent homicide, negligent injuring and reckless operation. The victims were from Houston.

KTBS reports a man had his legs severed by a train last night in Shreveport. The TV station says they’ve learned the victim was sleeping on the tracks.

A new study finds that what you wear to work has a big impact on your chances of getting that big promotion. 80 percent of managers and 86 percent of workers feel that clothing affects your promotion chances. OfficeTeam District President Brandi Britton says the old adage is still true…

A 4.6 magnitude earthquake was recorded in the Gulf of Mexico on Sunday morning, about 120 miles southeast of Grand Isle. According to the Richter Scale, a 4.6 magnitude earthquake is consdidered light. There have been no reports that anyone felt anything in southeast Louisiana.

The regular session must end in 28 days, but Governor Edwards is pushing lawmakers to end it early, so they can address a 648-million dollar revenue shortfall in a special session. A significant bill dealing with riverboat gaming and a constitutional amendment that would require unanimous jury verdicts in criminal trials are still being considered. Political Analyst Bernie Pinsonat says there’s a chance that legislation stalls as the clock ticks down.

The regular session must end in a month, but the belief at the capitol is it will end in mid-May, so lawmakers can pass tax bills to address a 648-million dollar shortfall. Political Analyst Bernie Pinsonat says legislation that has nothing to do with the budget is close to final legislative passage, so the regular session could end in a couple of weeks.

Another finding in the report was that while people still belive dressing up helps you move up, the definition of what “dressing up” is has loosened in recent years. Britton says that’s because employers are scrambling to find high quality workers.

Anthony Davis was massive in last night’s 119-100 win over the Warriors, with 33 points and 18 rebounds, leading the team in both categories, and it wasn’t just his play on the court that led the team, it was his message off the court before the game.

The Pelicans prevailed over the Warriors in a huge 119-100 victory, bringing the series to 2-1 and guaranteeing they’ll have another crack at the champs in Oakland next week. There were questions heading into the game about whether or not New Orleans should keep playing at their same break neck pace. Many fans argued that you can’t beat Golden State at their own game, but Point Guard Jrue Holiday says grit and grind just isn’t their style.

The Pels kept Golden State under 30 percent from 3, and under 40 percent as a whole in a dominating defensive showing. Davis says a change in mindset did wonders for the underdogs.

The Pelicans thrashed the warriors at home 119-100 in their first home game of the western conference semi finals, bringing the series against the resigning champs to 2-1. That means no matter what, New Orleans has booked a ticket back to California to keep the series alive. The Brow was massive in the game, with 33 points and 18 rebounds, leading the team in both categories. But Davis didn’t just lead the team on the boxscore, reports say he roused New Orleans before the game with a simple message, “We’re not losing this game”.

Game four tips off at 2:30 tomorrow, with game five in Oakland on Tuesday at 9:30.

And today is the Kentucky Derby. The owner of the Pelicans and Saints, Gayle Benson, has a horse in the race. Lone Sailor is one of the biggest long shots to win.  The jockey will be James Graham and the horse drew the eighth post.

The LSU baseball team blew another late game lead as they fell to 4th ranked Arkansas 5-4 in the opening game of a three-game set. The Tigers led 4-2 in the eighth inning, but they gave up three runs in the eighth inning as Nick Bush was charged with his first loss of the season. LSU is now 10-12 in the SEC.

The Ragin Cajuns clobbered 15th ranked Coastal Carolina 12-6. Colten Schmidt gave up just one run over eight innings and struck out nine to get the win. Kellon Fontenot’s three-run homer in the fifth busted the game wide open.

Georgia State and ULM was rained out. Louisiana Tech played and lost to Middle Tennessee 6-4, Texas Southern trounced Grambling eight to one.

Sam Houston State over Southeastern five to three…McNeese fell to Texas A-and-M Corpus Christi nine to four, UNO split a doubleheader with Houston Baptist and Northwestern and Nicholls had their games rained out.

The chemical fire has been distinguished at Flowchem in Duson and evacuated residents were allowed back into their homes Friday morning. The massive blaze shutdown I-10 on Thursday, but it’s has since re-opened. State Police spokesperson Brooks David says investigators still don’t know what caused the blaze
