We are waiting to hear the autopsy results on 19-year-old Emily Rodgers. Her body was found in a wooded area in Maurepas yesterday and three men are facing charges in connection with her death. Livingston Parish Sheriff Jason Ard says they learned Rodgers, who is originally from Ponchatoula, was missing on February 9th….

A motive has not been established. Ard says Rodgers knew the three suspects, but they were not linked romantically.

New Orleans Police will provide an update this afternoon on the three separate shootings that left three people dead and five people wounded on Fat Tuesday. One of the fatal shootings occurred along a parade route after a fight had broken out. A suspect in that shooting has been identified as Eddie Dingle and a warrant for his arrest has been issued. Two people were killed in a separate shooting in the Lower Ninth ward.

Fishermen are kicking into high gear to satisfy the big desire for seafood in the Lenten season. Matt Doyle has more.

Three men are in jail charged in connection with the death of a 19-year-old girl found in a wooded area in Livingston Parish. Jim Shannon has more.

New Orleans police are asking for public’s assistance in locating 18-year-old Eddit Dingle, the alleged Mardi Gras shooter responsible for the death of a man along St. Charles Avenue. Dingle has been charged with second degree murder. NOPD alleges Dingle was involved in a verbal altercation with the victim, and after the dispute, Dingle fired several shots into him.

 

Catholics are cutting back on eating meat for the Lenten season, in most places, that’s a sacrifice, but for spoiled bayou Catholics, it’s not too tough. Louisiana Seafood Promotion and Marketing Board member Chalin Delaune says there’s a good supply of seafood, but the cold weather could keep crawfish prices high.

The LSU Vet School is providing care for goose who was pierced with an arrow.  The wounded goose was found near the LSU Lakes and captured by Wildlife and Fisheries crews. Following an initial checkup, Vet school spokesperson Julie Thomas says veterinarians feel the goose shouldn’t be grounded too long…

Livingston Parish deputies have arrested three men in connection with the death of a 19-year-old female. The body of Emily Rodgers was found Tuesday in a wooded area off Catfish Landing Road in Maurepas. Sheriff Jason Ard says they’ve arrested Justin Scivique, Derek Williford and John Cowart….

The LSU Vet School is helping an injured goose who was pierced with an arrow. The goose was found near the LSU Lakes. The goose was finally captured by Wildlife and Fisheries crews. The goose’s wing is pierced, but school spokesperson Julie Thomas says the goose doesn’t appear to have any other injuries…

The LSU hoops team fell to 5-8 in the SEC last night as the Tigers lost to Alabama 80-65. Daryl Edwards scored a career-high 21 points for the Bayou Bengals, but his teammates struggled against a surging Crimson Tide team that improved to 8-5 in SEC play.

Big night in the Southland Conference, Nicholls leads the league and they host Sam Houston State who is tied for second with Southeastern Louisiana and UNO. The Colonels have won eight of their last nine and they are 10-3 at home. The Bearkats are the best defensive team in the league, allowing 67 points a game.

Meanwhile, S-L-U and the Privateers will face each other in Hammond. These two teams split their season series last year. UNO beat the Lions in Hammond last season 60-52.

Also tonight…Northwestern State hosts Houston Batptist, while Tulane faces East Carolina. The Green Wave are trying to end a three-game losing streak. While the Demons will start former football player Cameron Lazare.

The Pelicans hope they can extend their winning streak to three when they host the Los Angeles Lakers tonight. It’s the final game before the All-Star break. New Orleans sits in 8th place in the Western Conference standings.

LSU’s top quarterback target for the 2019 recruiting class has decommitted from Texas A-and-M. Six-foof-six, Grant Gunnell, who is considered the nation’s number two pro-style passer is someone Ed Orgeron’s staff covets. According to Geaux 24-7 sports, Gunnell will visit the LSU campus this weekend. Cleveland-dot-com reports Gunnell decommitted from Texas A-and-M after receiving an offer Ohio State.

WAFB-TV reports Coach O has bought a home on a lake in Baton Rouge’s University club subdivision. He’s currently living in the Mandeville area.

A CBS Sports report finds per-game attendance at college football games in 2017 dropped an average of 14-hundred fans in 2017, which is the largest drop in 34 years and the 2nd-largest ever. LSU saw its average attendance decline as well from 101-thousand in 2016 to 98-thousand last season.

Typically, Valentine’s Day is one in which lovers shower each other with gifts, flowers and a nice dinner out.  But Lake Charles based Waitr is hoping for a big day with in home deliveries.  CEO Chris Meaux (MO) says they were pleasantly surprised at the amount of orders they got last year which was an 1100-percent spike over a normal weekday…

New Orleans police are searching for a subject they believe is responsible for killing a man on St. Charles Ave during Mardi Gras.

Eddie Dingle Jr., 21, is wanted on suspicion of second-degree murder after the shooting near the parade route about 4:35 p.m. in the 2100 block of St. Charles Avenue. The gunfire left a 30-year-old man dead; officials have not released his name.Three people were killed yesterday throughout the crescent city.

Three persons are under arrest in the alleged murder of a young woman from Ponchatoula.  Livingston Parish Sheriff Jason Ard says the body of 19-year-old Emily Rogers was found in a wooded area near Maurepas (More-a-pa).  As police interviewed persons close to the investigation, conflicting stories made it apparent she was killed.  John Cowart, Justin Scivique (Suh-vick) and Derek Williford all of Maurepas (More-a-pa) were arrested.  The motive is unclear and the investigation is continuing.

Panola Pepper and Providence Foods founder Grady Wyly “Bubber” Brown Sr. will be laid to rest today.  The 83-year-old from Lake Providence died Saturday.  Panola Pepper was founded in 1983 so that Brown’s farmhands would have work through the winter.  Lake Providence Mayor Bobby Amacker says he made the first batch on his mother’s stovetop…

The head of a non-partisan education group says the state school system needs to tap into more federal funds to improve state schools. John Warner Smith with New Horizon’s said Tuesday that “no child left behind” federal funds are available for Louisiana schools because of where our state ranks in public school spending. Governor John Bel Edwards has already indicated that the state will remain at last year’s spending for the 2018-19 school year.

The National Federation of Independent Businesses says the Small Business Optimism Index set a record in January, with small business owners saying now is a good time to expand.  Louisiana NFIB Director Dawn Starns agrees it might be a good time to expand because of less federal taxes and regulations…but proprietors are concerned about finding qualified workers for open positions…

Tough night in Tuscaloosa LSU as was blown out by a surging Alabama team. The Tigers shot just 39-percent from the field in an 80-65 loss to the Crimson Tide. While Bama shot 55%. Danta Hall had a huge game for the winning team as he had 20 points and eight rebounds. LSU is now 4-7 in the SEC.

There are some big games in the Southland tonight. In Thibodaux, Nicholls hosts Sam Houston State. The Colonels are looking for their first win over the Bearkats since 2013. Nicholls enters the game a half-game ahead of Sam Houston State for first place.

Southeastern Louisiana and UNO are tied with Sam Houston for second and they play each other in Hammond at 7 PM. The Lions are trying to win their 11th Southland game of the season for only the third time in program history. Travin Thibodaux leads the Privateers, averaging 17 points a game.

A CBS sports report finds college football attendance involving FBS schools had its biggest drop in 34 years. On average, 14-hundred fewer fans attended games in 2017 compared to 2016.

Tiger Stadium has seen declines in attendance as well. The average attendance last season was 98-thousand, down from 102-thousand in 2015. The number season of ticket sales has also declined by about 25-hundred since 2015.
