The University of Louisiana System has set a goal to graduate 150-thousands students by 2025. U-L System President Jim Henderson says if this can be accomplished by the nine universities in the system, these students will be the most educated generation in Louisiana history.

Henderson says in order to achieve this increase in graduates over the next eight years, partnerships with technical and community colleges are needed to provide ample classroom space for more students. He also adds using technology to our advantage.

Henderson says it’s time Louisiana started to invest more in its students. He says we need to focus more on the outcomes of investments, rather than what it costs on the front end.

Iberville Parish leaders will discuss a proposed law on October 17th that would prevent an individual from damaging or defacing the nation’s or the state’s flag. Councilman Matthew Jewell says last Veterans Day, a group of people ripped down and burned an American flag. He says the veterans were extremely upset about it so he decided to take action.

Former L-S-U and N-F-L star Y.A.Tittle has passed away at the age of 90. Tittle played for the Tigers during the mid 1940s and set five records, including passing yards in a career, touchdown passes and total offense. In a 2008 interview with our own Jim Engster, the Marshall, Texas native explained how he ended up at LSU.…

A well-known member of the Boy Scouts was killed Monday in a drive-by shooting in Clinton. East Feliciana Parish Sheriff Jeffery Travis says the victim has been identified as 48-year-old Brad DeFrancheschi. He says three other middle aged white men have been killed since July in a similar manner and they are receiving assistance from the East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s Office to solve these murders.

On September 19th, Carroll Breeden was gunned down in a drive-by shooting at his home in Pride while gardening in his front yard. East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff Sid Gautreaux says they are assisting on this case in every way possible.

East Feliciana Chief Criminal Deputy Greg Phares says they are keeping details private at this stage of the investigation expect police are looking for a white four door sedan with tinted windows. He says they are aware many residents in the area are concerned about safety.

LSU hosts 10th ranked Auburn this Saturday at Tiger Stadium. Auburn is 5-1, with its lone loss against defending national champion Clemson.
