A homeowner shot and killed an alleged intruder in LaPlace last night. St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff Mike Tregre says the homeowner told detectives he heard voices in his yard and went to investigate. Tregre says when he opened the back door, he was face-to-face with the intruder.

No charges have been filed against the homeowner.

The Shreveport City Council voted no to a multi-million dollar project to build a sports complex and downtown arena . Councilman Oliver Jenkins says he voted against the it because there was not a lot of visible public support. He hopes they can go back to the drawing board because a Tom Benson partnership is a great opportunity.

Louisiana’s Congressional delegation is working to bring a Shreveport man back to the United States. Zachary Wilson was arrested in Guatemala following a church mission, when bullets were found in his luggage. U.S. Representative Mike Johnson says they respect the rule of law but the charges brought against Wilson are not justified….

The family says Wilson forgot the bullets for hunting were in his bag.

The death of a fire chief’s wife in a Lacombe house fire has been ruled a homicide. That’s from the St. Tammany Parish coroner who says after three autopsies on the remains of Nanette Krentel, he is comfortable in declaring her death as a homicide. Krentel shared a home with St. Tammany District 12 Fire Chief Steve Krentel. Authorites have not said much about the case.

A woman who was eight months pregnant is dead and the St. Martin Parish Sheriff’s office is looking for two persons of interest, 29-year-old Mark Trimble and his sister, 32-year-old Toni Trimble. Both are from Catahoula. Major Ginny Higgins says anyone with information is urged to come forward…

Northwestern State has set a record when it comes to enrollment for this fall semester. 10,572 students are attending classes at the Natchitoches school, which is the most ever in the 133-year-old university’s history. A new study finds that Louisiana’s lawsuit climate is the worst in the nation, and also showed this ranking is not good when it comes to attracting new businesses. Harold Kim is the executive vice president of the U.S. Chamber Institute for Legal Reform. He says the poll of more than 1300 attorneys or leaders in companies also asked what they thought the worst jurisdictions were in the US…:

The St. Martin Parish Sheriff’s Office is looking for two people wanted in connection with the death of a woman who was 8 months pregnant. Investigators are calling 29-year-old Mark Trimble, and his sister, 32-year-old Toni Trimble, both of Catahoula, persons of interest. 24-year-old Ashley Nicole Meche, who was 8 months pregnant, was found dead Tuesday afternoon.

The Edwards Administration gives the private operator of two state owned north Louisiana hospitals, BRF,45 days to correct alleged violations of a contract. Commissioner of Administration Jay Dardenne says the state spoke with Ochsner Health System, which could help BRF run the hospitals…
