A man has been charged in a double homicide after calling the cops on himself. Maj. Steven Williams with the Lincoln Parish Sheriff’s Office says John Nichols fatally shot Anthony and Rachel Denicola outside their home. He says two juveniles were inside the residence at the time.

The Humane Society of Louisiana is looking for answers after a three-legged dog was shot and killed in Acadia Parish. Director Jeff Dorson says it takes a sick person to take the life of a little three-legged dog who means so much to his family.

University of New Orleans Business Professor Mark Rosa says this is surprising with the increase in the amount of laws aimed against sexual harassment and bullying in the workplace.

A Lincoln Parish man has been arrested for a double homicide after reporting himself to the police. Major Steven Williams says yesterday, John Nichols confessed he shot Anthony and Rachel Denicola. He says the couple lived on property owned by the Nichols’ family and Nichols contacted authorities about evicting the family months before the deadly incident.

Starting quarterback for the Ragin Cajuns, Senior Darius Hoggins, suffered a non-football related injury and might not be back for the September 2nd season opener. UL-Lafayette head coach Mark Hudspeth says Hoggins fell while texting and walking and broke is jaw and knocked out a few teeth. Hoggins missed this Saturday’s scrimmage due to his injury.

Univeristy of New Orleans Business Professor Mark Rosa says there is not much legal recourse for individuals in jobs that require heavy lifting but this is a surprising statistic for sexual harassment and bullying given the increase in awareness over these issues.

Sheriff Tony Mancuso says 22-year-old Ashlyn Brown and 45-year-old Boyd Hagood, both from Baytown, Texas, were arrested. He says this is part of a bigger investigation involving additional suspects police are dealing with in Texas.

The survey reports about 68-percent of men without degrees spend nearly a fourth of their time moving heavy loads. Rosa says there is not much recourse for those involved in heavy lifting because that is the job description but when it comes to bullying….

Sheriff Tony Mancuso said they found out that the victim was last seen with the two suspects, 22-year-old Ashlyn Brown and 45-year-old Boyd “Lurch” Hagood, both of Baytown, Texas…:

A Lincoln Parish man is behind bars for a double homicide after he reported himself to police. Maj. Steven Williams with the sheriff’s office says they got a call from John Nichols yesterday evening stating that he had shot Anthony and Rachel Denicola moments before.

Williams says the couple lived on property owned by Nichols and his family. There was an ongoing dispute among the family as to whether or not the two could remain on the property. Nichols had contacted local authorities to see about evicting the couple months prior to the deadly incident.

Williams says the victims made allegations that Nichols made an inappropriate comment to their 14-year-old daughter. He says about 45 minutes after deputies had taken that report, the shooting occurred. He says two juvenile relatives were present during the shooting.

The First Circuit Court of Appeals heard arguments in the case of Governor John Bel Edwards’ executive order protecting the LGBT community from employment or service discrimination. Attorney General Jeff Landry has already won one battle in challenging the constitutionality of the order, and the governor appealed that decision.

Governor John Bel Edwards and state Congressional delegation members toured Denham Springs with HUD Secretary Dr. Ben Carson yesterday a year after the historic flooding. Carson says he’s impressed with the progress Louisiana has made since August.

The state Department of Transportation says the installation of a cable barrier is set to begin this week along I-49 in Caddo and DeSoto Parishes. DOTD Spokesperson Erin Buchanan says this project is part of a larger goal to install 600 miles of cable barries throughout the state. She says safety is the driving cause of the projects.

The Lake Charles Police Department says they’ve arrested a homeless man in the beating death of another man. They say 29-year-old Anthony Massingill, with no last known address, is booked for 1st degree murder with one million dollars bond, in the death of 68-year-old Keith Reynaud who suffered blunt force trauma.

Members of Louisiana’s Congressional delegation and the governor toured Denham Springs with HUD Secretary Dr. Ben Carson Monday. Carson said he’s pleased with how the recovery dollars are being spent so far, and believes as a nation we can grow and improve from the experiences in Louisiana.
