The Louisiana Department of Health has received an $8.1 million dollar federal grand to address the state’s opioid crisis. They say the money will be used to enhance existing statewide prevention, treatment and recovery services that are available to individuals who are addicted to opioids.

Louisiana support for President Donald Trump is heavily split along party and racial lines. That’s according to pollster Bernie Pinsonat with Southern Media and Opinion Research. He says 91 percent of Republicans give the president a favorable rating, while 72-percent of Democrats disapprove. Opinions are similarly split on the Affordable Care Act. Pinsonat says only 8 percent of respondents would keep the ACA as it is now which is what Democrats want in Washington..:

The Acadia Parish Sheriff’s Office says a Tier III sex offender has been arrested again after investigators say they learned he was contacting an 11-year-old over social media. They say 54-year-old Marvin Johnson of Crowley was booked on a warrant for Unlawful Use of Social Media by a sex offender and charged with carnal knowledge of a juvenile. It’s against the law for sex offenders in Louisiana to use social media.
