Lafayette Police are investigating the fatal shooting of an armed naked man. Corporal Bridgette Dugas says a homeowner killed the man after finding him in his backyard….

A Baton Rouge teen has been rescued from a chimney after he got stuck. BRPD Cpl L’Jean McKneely says the 15-year-old has been charged with attempted burglary of an inhabited dwelling, and he does have a criminal record. He says hopefully they can prevent this teenager from doing something like this again because his life was in danger.

A Denham Springs driver has died after hitting a horse that was standing in the middle of US 190 in Livingston Parish. State Trooper Bryan Lee says 24-year-old Joshua Marange and the horse were killed in the accident. He advises drivers to call *LSP if they see hazards in the roadway.

Monroe-based CenturyLink announces company wide layoffs. CenturyLink spokesperson Annmarie Sartor says after careful consideration the telecommunications company has made the difficult decision to reduce its employee related costs. A Denham Springs man has died after hitting a horse in the road. State Trooper Bryan Lee says one of their troopers came upon the accident around 1 am.

Lee says 24-year-old Joshua Marange was killed in the accident. He says Marange was driving down US 190 in Livingston parish when he struck a horse that was standing in the eastbound lane. He says the crash did substantial damage to Marange’s vehicle.

Marange says impairment is not suspected to be a factor, but toxicology results are pending. He says they are still trying to locate the owner of the horse. He says drivers can call *LSP to report hazards in the roadway.

A Lafayette homeowner fatally shot a naked man who was holding a gun in his backyard this morning. Cpl. Bridgette Dugas says authorities received a call around 8 a.m. about someone trespassing on Fanny Street and they are working to determine why the man was naked in the yard.

LSU Football Coach Les Miles said that Danny Etling will start at quarterback on Saturday against Mississippi State in a video posted on the school’s website. Etling had immediate success when he came off the bench last Saturday against Jacksonville State. But the voice of the Tigers, Chris Blair, says the transfer from Purdue faces a much bigger challenge in his first start in Tiger Stadium…

Etling has not started a game since 2014 when he was at Purdue.

It’s expected to be a high scoring affair when Louisiana Tech visits Texas Tech. The over-under is 80 points and the Red Raiders are a 10-point favorite.

The Ragin Cajuns complete their season-opening three-game homestand on Saturday night as they host South Alabama. This is the fifth time these two schools have met and the home team has won each time.

Also in the Sun Belt, ULM is a huge underdog in its Sun Belt opener against Georgia Southern.

In the Southland…McNeese hosts Stephen F Austin. while Northwestern looks for its first win of the season at Central Arkansas and Nicholls takes on U-I-W in it’s home opener.

A woman from Church Point is fighting to keep her pet spider monkey after he was seized by the state Department of Wildlife and Fisheries under a law that bans residents from owning exotic animals. Justine Quinn says they own the animal legally and had him before the law passed. She is presenting her case in court today, according to KATC.

The ACLU of Louisiana says they are getting reports about students being punished for sitting during the Pledge of Allegiance. Executive Director Marjorie Esman says they sent a letter to the superintendents of all Louisiana public school districts reminding them about the First Amendment:

She hopes this won’t be an issue moving forward.

LSU coach Les Miles confirmed today that quarterback Danny Etling will take the first snaps in the Mississippi State game tomorrow in Tiger stadium. The Mad Hatter added in a video posted to the school’s website that he has the right to change his mind. Etling came in for a struggling Brandon Harris last weekend and lead LSU to three straight touchdown drives.
