Law enforcement around the state are gearing up for a potential threat in Louisiana following the Dallas attack that left five police officers dead. State Police Col. Mike Edmonson says there is concern that something similar could happen in Louisiana because a suspect in the Dallas shooting told police he was upset about the police violence in Baton Rouge and Minnesota…:

A man who organized a Shreveport vigil on the police shootings has decided to cancel the event amid death threats. In a Facebook post, Jerome James Adkins says he has not only received threats against his life, but also posts on Facebook that he is taking very seriously. The parents of a two-year-old boy found in a pastic garbage bag on a levee in Jefferson Parish are behind bars this morning. Twenty-one-year-old Gabrielle Whittington and Onterio Thompson have been charged with unlawful disposal of human remains and obstruction of justice. The coroner estimates the child may have been buried in the ground for at least two weeks and there’s no obvious cause of death, because the body was badly decomposed

The mother of the child of Alton Sterling, the man who was shot by Baton Rouge Police Officers, has issued a statement regarding the shootings in Dallas that resulted in the deaths of five officers. Quinyetta McMillon says officers who violate the public trust should be held accountable through the justice system, but responding to violence with violence is not the answer.

Statistics published by Huffington Post show that since 2005, 13 officers have been convicted of murder or manslaughter in on-duty fatal shootings, even though there have been hundreds of police shootings during that time. Legal Analyst Tim Meche says we haven’t seen a lot of convictions when it comes to fatal police shootings, but that’s all changed now with cell phone videos..:

Since then the President has said he’s horrified that a protest in Dallas over the murders of Sterling and Castile turned deadly. Cops say 5 Dallas officers were killed and 6 others injured by what appeared to be snipers in calculated positions. One suspect is reportedly dead and three others in custody.

Meanwhile though authorities in Louisiana say threats are going around here, none of them are credible and the public should be cautious when it comes to sharing erroneous reports on social media. State Police say fake threats can unnecessarily alarm the public and divert resources and attention away from the important task at hand.

In the latest development in the fatal police shooting of Alton Sterling, sources say there was only one of the two officers involved that fired their weapon. They say it was Blane Salamoni who is believed to have fired all of the shots. An autopsy conducted by the East Baton Rouge Parish Coroner’s Office revealed that Sterling died of multiple gunshot wounds to his back and chest.

A former Fontainebleau High School teacher and coach has been arrested amid allegations he had sex with one of his students. St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office Capt. Daniel Seuzeneau says 37-year-old William Leto made contact with the student through social media and then began grooming her to trust him. He says the suspect faces many charges…:

Sources have told media outlets that it was 28-year-old Blane Salamoni who fired his weapon into the chest of Alton Sterling, killing him oustide of a convenience store early Tuesday morning. Salamoni is a four-year veteran of the force and he along with 28-year-old Howie Lake have been put on administrative leave.

Was the shooting of Sterling justified? That’s the question many are asking. East Baton Rouge District Attorney Hillar Moore says he was present when members of the Baton Rouge Police Department began interviewing the two officers involved…:

He was arrested for offenses that include aggravated battery, criminal damage to property, drug possession and carnal knowledge of a juvenile. But Brandon Boutin knew Sterling and says the 37-year-old man was working hard to straighten out his life and make sure everything was on the up and up…

Monroe Police have charged Quinton Tellis with first-degree murder in the death of a ULM student, who was found dead in her apartment last August. Tellis has been the primary suspect in the case and after a nearly year-long investigation authorities were able to collect enough information. Tellis is also facing capital murder charges in the burning death of a 19-year-old girl in Mississippi.
