An Edgard man is facing 15 years in prison for allegedly posting on social media that cops were going to be killed in St. Charles Parish. The post essentially read, “In a little while cops in St. Charles are going to be next. I hope they kill every last one of them.” Sheriff Greg Champagne says this type of hateful rhetoric, especially during such tense times, that will not be tolerated…:

So far, 13 candidates in the US Senate race have officially signed up to run on this first day of qualifying. They include Republicans Congressmen Charles Boustany and John Fleming and Joseph Cao. Democrats Caroline Fayard and Public Service Commissioner Foster Campbell threw their hats in the ring, as well as former ATC Commissioner Troy Hebert.

A police officer in Kentwood shot someone during an incident last night in Tangipahoa Parish. State Police confirmed the shooting and said the woman did not suffer life-threatening injuries. No other information on this incident is being released at this time.

The State Department of Revenue announces the limit has been reached on the Louisiana solar energy tax credit program. Emelie Gunn has more on what this means…:

LSU Sports Information Director Michael Bonnette says Coach Les Miles had private meetings with members of the East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s office and the Baton Rouge Police department. Bonnette says the head coach wanted to express his support to the law enforcement agencies that lost three officers in an ambush attack by a lone gunman on Sunday.

Starting tonight on the SEC Network, 24 hours of LSU programming will begin as 12 different games from the past in six different sports will begin airing at 11 PM. You’ll be able to see the football team’s 2011 season opening win over Oregon, the historic 1990 basketball game between LSU and Loyola Marymount and it concludes tomorrow night at 8 Pm when they replay the game featuring Warren Morris’ historic home run to win the 1996 national championship game.

The 2016 preseason All-Southland Conference football teams were released today. McNeese State landed three players on the first-team on offense, tight end Zach Hetrick, wide receiver Kent Shelby and offensive lineman Mason Martin. On defense, McNeese has three more representatives. Defensive lineman Isaiah Golden, linebacker Ashari Goins, defensive back Dominique Hill. Qualifying began this morning and several candidates appeared at the Secretary of State’s Office to sign up for the US Senate race. They include Democrats Caroline Fayard & Public Service Commissioner Foster Campbell, and Republicans Congressmen Charles Boustany and John Fleming and Troy Hebert who is running as an independent.

The St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office has arrested a man accused of making threats against police officers on social media. Sheriff Greg Champagne says they received reports on Monday, following the deadly rampage against officers the prior day in Baton Rouge, that a man by the name of Victor “Life of Crime” Pablo indicated he planned a similar ambush

Champagne says the suspect is being charged with terrorizing and threatening a public official, which carries up to a maximum of 15 years in prison.

The State Department of Revenue has announced that the Louisiana solar energy tax credit program has already reached its limit. The LDR says consumers buying residential solar energy systems from this point on should not expect to receive any tax credits from the state. President of Solar Alternatives Jeff Cantin says this means around 2-thousand families will not get this credit now…:

State Police is investigating a police shooting in Tangiaphoa Parish. Trooper Dustin Dwight says the incident happened last night on LA 38 and a woman was shot by a Kentwood Police officer. The woman’s injuries are not considered life-threatening and no other information is being released at this time.

Qualifying for the federal elections begins today. In the US Senate race, the latest polls show Republican State Treasurer John Kennedy leading a large field of candidates, but pollster John Couvillion says a lot can change before the November primary…

Rev. Lee Wesley believes there needs to be reform within police departments…:

The top half of the state is under a heat advisory until 7pm tomorrow. The National Weather Service says a ridge of high pressure is hovering over the region which is forecast to reach temperatures into the upper 90s to near 100 degrees. They say, when combined with the humidity, it will feel like it’s 105 to 110 degrees outside.

Mayor Reginald Tatum is upset the original structure was destroyed, as it was 3 weeks out from opening as a museum. Last night, hundreds of bikers gathered on the highway where two Baton Rouge city cops and one sheriff’s deputy were killed on Sunday. They took a short ride to the Baton Rouge Police headquarters — not far from the site of the tragic incident. The bikers said the distance was short, but the message they were spreading could go a long way. Nearly every bike was decorated with a blue strip or black and blue flag.

The LSU Tigers will stage its SEC Network takeover beginning late tonight and into tomorrow. The athletics department has picked 12 events in 6 different sports from the archives to relive with fans on the network for 24 straight hours. The coverage will begin at 11pm tonight with the football team’s resounding victory over Oregon in the 2011 Cowboys Classic at Arlington, Texas.

Former LSU baseball star and Astros prospect Alex Bregman started at third base for the first time Tuesday since being promoted to Triple-A Fresno. It’s likely Bregman’s clearest path to the majors.

According to sources, the Atlantic Coast Conference will launch a television network in August of 2019. It’s said that ESPN and the ACC will also start a digital channel next month that will be available online. The ACC would become the fourth major conference with its own network, along with the Big Ten, Pac-12 and Southeastern Conference.

The LSU baseball team will be facing TCU in next season’s Houston College Classic at Minute Maid Park. The Horned Frogs and the Tigers will face off at 7pm on Friday March 3rd.

The LHSAA has called a special meeting of its executive committee for Monday at the organization’s office. There were rumors circling that the gathering will be held for a discussion on the termination of the LHSAA executive director Eddie Bonine, but its President, Vic Bonnaffee, said that is not true. Bonine had recently expressed frustration with the select/non-select controversy at the NFHS convention. He closed in a report that the matter is a “proverbial dumpster fire” — a statement he later said was a joke for colleagues.

New Northwestern State Baseball Coach Bobby Barbier has named Chris Bertrand as his new pitching coach. For the past four seasons, Bertrand has been the head coach at Texas-Tyler, and he led UT Tyler to three American Southwest Conference Championships. Bertrand played collegiately at Louisiana College and Bossier Parish Community College.

Tatum believes the cost of rebuilding the mansion could be expensive, because historic buildings have to follow certain guidelines.
