A Crowley man has been arrested for allegedly stabbing two Acadia Parish Narcotic Agents. 42-year-old Jason Broussard is facing multiple charges including 2 counts of Attempted First Degree Murder. Maxine Trahan with the Acadia Parish Sheriff’s Office says the agents responded to a call after Broussard was causing a disturbance at a grocery store…:

Broussard is being held on a million dollar bond. The deputies have been released after receiving medical care.

Republican Presidential hopeful Donald Trump is scheduled to make a campaign stop in Baton Rouge on Thursday. The 7pm event at the River Center is free and open to the public.

New Orleans native Peyton Manning has plenty to celebrate today after the Broncos spectacular victory in Super Bowl 50 last night over the Panthers. It’s the second championship of Manning’s career and some say it may have been the last game of his career. While Manning is getting a lot of headlines, the Denver defense ruled the game netting three turnovers and the longest punt return in Super Bowl history.

A 42-year-old man from Crowley is facing serious charges for allegedly stabbing two Acadia Parish Sheriff’s deputies as they were trying to arrest him. They say the officers were called out to a disturbance at a store in Church Point when they attempted to take Jason Broussard into custody, but were stabbed and cut by the suspect as he tried to flee. Broussard was arrested and the officers have been released from medical care.

The massive burn chamber that was built to dispose 16 million pounds of explosives at Camp Minden begins its slow trek through four parishes in northwest Louisiana today. DOTD Spokesperson Cindy Dorfner says the chamber is going by truck through Natchitoches, Red River and Bossier and they ask folks not to stop and watch…:

Senator Marco Rubio, who is battling Trump for the Republican nomination has named his Louisiana campaign team. State senator Bodi White of Central is the chairman.

Sunday is Valentine’s Day, but state lawmakers will be busy that day starting a special session that’s been called by Governor Edwards to address the state’s huge budget shortfall for this fiscal year and next. Two narcotic agents from Acadia Parish are recovering from stab wounds they suffered while trying to arrest a 42-year-old Crowley man. Acadia Sheriff Wayne Melancon says his deputies were called to a disturbance at a grocery store on Saturday night and eventually encountered Jason Broussard, who allegedly stabbed the deputies as he tried to flee. Broussard was arrested and the officers have been released from medical care.

The entire state is under a wind advisory as sustained winds of 20 to 25 miles per hour are expected and wind gusts could reach up to 30 miles per hour. Highs today will be in the low to the mid 50s.

Alford says Governor Edwards has released a broad call when it comes to taxes and to no one’s surprise, Republicans aren’t pleased.

The burn chamber created to burn 16 million pounds of M6 propellant at Camp Minden will begin making its way to Webster Parish through four northwest Louisiana parishes today. The Department of Transportation is advising drivers to prepare for delays. DOTD Spokesperson Cindy Dorfner says because of its size, the chamber can only go 15 miles per hour.

Dorfner says the chamber will be transported on a truck through Natchitoches, Red River, Bossier until it finally reaches Camp Minden in Webster Parish on Thursday. She says traffic will be especially bad when the chamber reaches south Bossier on Wednesday because it will close down an intersection.

Motorists can check the chamber’s travel schedule on DOTD’s website. She says electricity could also be disrupted along the chamber’s route and electric companies will be out to ease power outages. Dorfner says they ask for people not to cluster around to watch the massive load pass.

Governor John Bel Edwards has issued the call for a special legislative session to deal with a 750-million dollar budget shortfall for this fiscal year. During the session, which starts Febraury 14th and ends March 9th, lawmakers will debate budget cuts and tax increases. Governor John Bel Edwards says he’s listened to legislators and has drafted a call allow flexibility to consider both cuts and raising money for the state.

It’s Mardi Gras weekend around Louisiana and State Police want everyone celebrating to be safe. Trooper Melissa Matey says with all the drinking and festivities make sure to have a sober driver behind the wheel. Matey says they are also asking the public to take advantage of the see something, send something app in case you see something that doesn’t seem right…
