Former Saints defensive coordinator Rob Ryan is now coaching for his brother, Rex Ryan, in Buffalo. Rob will be an assistant head coach for the defense. It’s the first time since 1995 that the Ryan brothers served on the same staff.

Saints cornerback Keenan Lewis went to instagram to announce he underwent a third surgery. In the preseason, he had a hip-sports herina procedure and had another surgery to repair the labrum in his hip during the season and it appears he needed another one after playing in just six games in 2015.

Pelicans star Anthony Davis is listed as questionable for tomorrow night’s game against the Lakers. Davis suffered a back contusion in the loss on Friday against Indiana and missed yesterday’s overtime loss to the Clippers.

And the LSU gymnastics squad shares a number one ranking with Michigan. The Tigers beat the previous number one ranked team in the country, Oklahoma on Saturday. LSU competes in Las Vegas on Thursday.

But the US Army Corps of Engineers announced today that there is not a need to open the Morganza Spillway, which will lessen the flood threat in St. Landry.

A 96-year-old driver plowed into the Mandeville community center, injuring four people inside. The accident happend around nine o’ clock this morning, authorities say the driver stepped on the accelerator instead of the brake as she was pulling up to the building. The injuries to the people inside are not considered life threatening.

The US Army Corps of Engineers says at this time, there is no need to use the Morganza Spillway in Pointe Coupee Parish to divert Mississippi River water before it reaches the Baton Rouge and New Orleans areas. Meanwhile, the Louisiana National Guard has activated almost 300 soldiers, many of them are building protective levees to hold back the rising Mississippi River…

President Barack Obama will speak at McKinley High during his visit to Baton Rouge on Thursday. The White House says Mr. Obama’s speech will begin at 9:45am. The president’s visit will come two days after his final State of the Union address.

The US Army Corps of Engineers opened the Bonnet Carre Spillway Sunday, but today said the operations of the Morganza Spillway reliefs are not needed as the latest high water projections show the river crest can safely pass through Louisiana without opening the Morganza.

A 96-year-old woman mistakenly hit the gas instead of the break when parking at the Mandeville community center, and as a result crashed her vehicle through a glass wall causing 4 people to be injured. Mandeville Police identify the driver as Rita Williams. The four injuries were not believed to be life threatening. It is unknown if Williams will face charges in the crash.

Louisiana’s new Speaker of the House is Representative Taylor Barras, a Republican from New Iberia. Governor John Bel Edwards’ pick was New Orleans Democrat Walt Leger, but in a runoff between the two, the Republican majority house voted for Barras. The vote was 56-49. Leger was selected to be Speaker Pro Tempore.

John Bel Edwards is being sworn in as Louisiana’s next governor at this hour on the steps of the state capitol. So what can we expect out of the new administration? Political analyst Clancy Dubos says Edwards plans to immediately expand Medicaid and he is going to call a special session to deal with all the fiscal issues in the state..:
