Two starters on LSU’s defense this past season decided they can wait another year before they start making money in the NFL. Linebacker Kendell Beckwith and cornerback Tre’davious White announced they will return for their senior seasons. Draft analyst Mike Detillier says Beckwith still needs another season in college, before he’s ready for the NFL and Beckwith’s return bodes well for the Tigers

The 2015 Mississippi Gatorade Player of the Year, Jack Abraham, has signed with Louisiana Tech and will participate in spring drills for the Bullldogs. As a quarterback at Oxford High School, Abraham threw for over 5,000 yards and 57 touchdowns during his senior season.

Ragin Cajuns star running back Elijah McGuire has joined the UL-Lafayette men’s basketball team. McGuire was a two-sport performer at Vandebilt Catholic, where he was the Terriers starting quarterback and an all-district guard on the basketball team.

The LSU Tigers face a big test on the road tonight when they visit 10th ranked Texas A-and-M. The Aggies are a perfect 5-0 in conference play and feature one of the top players in the SEC in Jalen Jones, who is averaging 17 points and seven rebounds a game. LSU basketball analyst Ricky Blanton says the Tigers can counter with freshman sensation Ben Simmons…

Laborde was in the state legislature from 1972 to 1992. He was the mayor of Marskville from 1958 to 1970 and also served as Commissioner of Adminstration during Edwards final term in office, which was in the 90s. Edwards says Laborde was a successful politician because he was a people person

A police affidavit shows that a Destrehan teacher arrested for having sex with a student has admitted to detectives that she was involved in an inapproprate relationship with a 16-year-old. Authorities say 26-year-old Kimberly Naquin had several sexual encounters with the teen which led to criminal charges against the former teacher.

LSU fans got some great news today as Tre’Davious White and Kendell Beckwith have decided to stay with the purple and gold for their senior seasons. In 2015, White finished the season with 44 tackles, seven pass break ups and seven passes defensed. Beckwith finished second on the team with 84 tackles and added 3.5 sacks and two forced fumbles. LSU head coach Les Miles says he’s happy the two decided to stay.

Today was the deadline to declare for the NFL draft. In a statement, Beckwith said he feel he has a lot of unfinished business at LSU and he looks forward to being back in Tiger Stadium on Saturdays. White says getting his college degree and becoming the first member of his family to graduate — as well as helping his team compete for a national title, is important to him than the NFL right now.

An autographed copy of the speech a student gave to welcome President Barack Obama to McKinley High School in Baton Rouge was stolen out of her vehicle, but cops say they found it and also made an arrest. The Baton Rouge Police Department says 17-year-old Keondrae Ricks allegedly tossed Che’dra Joseph’s signed speech in dumpster after breaking into her car.

Former State Representative Ray Laborde of Avoiyelles PArish passed away at his home in Marksville at the age of 88. Laborde was the mayor of the town from 1958 to 1970. Laborde then went into state politics where he served in the Louisiana House of Representatives. He was a lifelong friend and Commissioner of Administration for former Governor Edwin Edwards from 1992 to 1996.
