State Police says they are continuing to search for answers in the case of an officer involved shooting which claimed the life of a 6-year-old boy in Marksville. They say the scene has been fully processed, and now investigators are meeting with the city marshals who opened fire on the car following a chase, where the child was riding with his father. Avoyelles Parish Coroner Dr. L.J. Mayeux said the 6-year-old died from at least 5 gunshot wounds.

Dardenne, who finished 4th in the primary, said both Edwards and Republican David Vitter reached out to him for his support, but Dardenne believes the US Senator would be bad for the GOP brand. During the announcement this morning, Edwards said he will govern across party lines.

A six-year-old boy is dead after a shootout that involved City Marshals in Marksville. Avoyelles Parish Coroner, Dr LJ Mayeaux, has identified the child as Jeremy Mardis. Mayeaux says the deceased child was a passenger in a vehicle. The driver was the child’s father, Chris Few, and Mayeaux says city marshals were chasing Few after he fled an attempt to serve a warrant…

Mayeaux says once the chase ended, there was an exchange of gunfire. The child died from multiple gunshot wounds, while Few is in critical condition.

And State Police says an Alabama man was killed when his 18-wheeler went over the guardrail and plunged into the Pearl River in St. Tammany Parish last night. Investigators are calling it a fatal hit and run and the search is on for a dark colored pickup truck that attempted to pass another 18-wheeler on the right shoulder, which caused a chain reaction of events to occur.
