After losing the Senate runoff election, many are wondering what’s next for Mary Landrieu? Political Analyst Clancy Dubos expects Landrieu to first take some time off to spend with her family. He says, after a waiting period, Landrieu could consider becoming a lobbyist…

Rising youth Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder diagnoses and treatment has lead the the Department of Health and Hospitals to host a symposium today focusing on finding solutions to the problem. Secretary Kathy Kliebert says they see an urgent need to gather doctors, parents, teachers and members of the community to explore the issue of the alarming rate of ADHD medication use in Louisiana….

ADHD medication use has risen 35.5 percent from 2008 to 2012 and young adult use has nearly doubled.

In St. Landry Parish, a family is in mourning after a father died trying to rescue his son in a house fire. 42-year-old John Robertson Sr. of Grand Prairie rushed into the burning home to rescue his 10-year-old son, John Robertson Jr. The boy is in stable condition at a Baton Rouge hospital suffering burns over 40-percent of his body. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

It looks like former Governor Edwin Edwards will release another book next year and this one will have loads of pictures. Biographer Leo Honeycutt says while he was working on the 600+ page novel he ended up amassing over 900 pictures. He says the new venture is a coffee table book and will be Edwards’ life in pictures…

Independence Bowl Public Relations Director, Stefan Nolet, says the excitement for this year’s game began in February when West Monroe-based Duck Commander signed on as the game’s sponsor…

This is the first time the game will be broadcast on network television since 1991.

5 State football champions will be crowned this weekend at the AllState Sugar Bowl LHSAA Prep Classic in the Mercedes Benz Superdome. In Class 1A, Mangham will take on Haynesville. Many faces Kinder in the Class 2A final. In 3A, it’s Livonia versus Amite. Class 4A sees Warren Easton play Neville. And in Class 5A, Destrehan will face Acadiana.

She feels there is a lot of over prescribing of these medications and the scary part is that they don’t know what the long-term affects could be on these kids. State Police say an Opelousas man was killed Saturday evening when the bike on which he was riding was struck from behind by a pickup truck in St. Landry Parish. Master Trooper Brooks David says 55-year-old Joseph Norman was riding his bike when he was struck by 69 year-old Joseph Thibodeaux.

State Police are still investigation a single vehicle crash that has claimed the life of a Houma man this morning just after 6 am on Highway 316 in LaFourche Parish. Thirty seven-year-old Gustuvo Mexa-Andino left the roadway twice and eventually ended up in a drainage canal. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
