The order comes amidst outrage on revelations that hospitals were billing victims of sexual assault for services related to their care. Tucker says the time period by which a victim of sexual assault must notify law enforcement is now extended from 72 hours to 1 year…:

State Police is investigating a crash in Ascension Parish this morning that claimed the life of a Dutchtown High School student and injured four others. They say three sisters were going to school when a car going the wrong way crashed into them head on. The backseat passenger of the sister’s car died on the scene.

The order also extends the amount of time a sexual assault victim must notify law enforcement to be eligible for reparations from 72 hours to 1 year.

After losing the US Senate runoff election to Bill Cassidy, many are wondering what’s next for Mary Landrieu? Political Analyst Clancy Dubos says Saturday’s defeat doesn’t necessarily mean that Landrieu’s political career is over. Dubos says Landrieu could decide to jump back in the political arena, but admits that it may be a while before she runs for office again…

State Police say a Dutchtown High School student was killed and four others injured in a head-on collision this morning in Gonzales. They say three teenagers were traveling in the westbound lane of LA 74 when they crashed into a car traveling eastbound in the same lane. A backseat passenger in the teens’ car was pronounced dead at the scene. Two others in that car plus the driver and passenger in the other car were taken to local hospitals for their injuries.

With a rise in youth ADHD diagnoses and treatment, the Department of Health and Hospitals is hosting a symposium focusing on finding solutions to the problem. Secretary Kathy Kliebert says there are studies that show ADHD medication is a gateway drug and is seriously abused…

She feels there is a lot of over prescribing of these medications and the scary part is that they don’t know what the long-term affects could be on these kids.

Baton Rouge Mayor Kip Holden has scheduled a press conference tomorrow morning to make a special announcement. It is expected that Holden will announce his candidacy for Lieutenant Governor in next year’s election. State Senator Elbert Guillory, Jefferson Parish President John Young, and Plauemines Parish President Billy Nungesser have already declared their intent to run for the office.

Former Governor Edwin Edwards will be releasing another book next year and this one will be loaded with pictures. Biographer Leo Honeycutt says they will begin working on the project next year and he’ll push to have it out by the end of the summer/early fall. He says the Edwards picture book will also be another Louisiana political history book…

A Grand Prairie family is mourning the loss of a father who died trying to rescue his son in a house fire. St. Landry Parish fire officials say 42-year-old John Robertson Sr. died after rushing into the burning home to rescue his 10-year-old son. The boy is in stable condition at a Baton Rouge hospital suffering burns over 40-percent of his body. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

The Big Easy is once again expecting loads of football fans for the R+L Carriers New Orleans Bowl and the Allstate Sugarbowl. New Orleans Tourism & Marketing Corporation President Mark Romig says they predict a sell-out crowd for the inaugural College Football Playoff between Alabama and Ohio State and expect the city to be packed…
