Governor Bobby Jindal is speaking at this hour at the American Enterprise Institute in Washington DC as he continues to make appearances across the country. The talk today is about the rebuilding of the United States military strength and he plans to give a similar speech tomorrow at The Citadel in South Carolina. As for whether or not he plans to run for President in 2016 Jindal says he won’t make an announcement until after the November elections.

It was an up and down day for the offense as Quarterback Drew Brees was intercepted three times, but the running game was strong throughout, led by Khiry Robinson who rushed for 89 yards and a game-winning 18 yard touchdown run. State Police say a Zachary man was killed in a single vehicle accident over the weekend in St. Helena Parish. They say 29-year-old Cody Damico veered off the road and hit a utility pole causing his vehicle to overturn. Damico, who was not wearing a seat belt, was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene.

An inmate serving a 34 year sentence for attempted 2nd degree murder was shot yesterday afternoon by guards after he tried a running escape from a work crew detail in St. Gabriel from the Elayne Hunte Correctional Facility. Twenty-two year-old Troy Watson was struck in the stomach and is expected to recover.

By the end of this fall semester, first-year TOPS students will begin receiving text messages reminding them of their obligations to retain their scholarship.

Jeremy Alford with la-politics-dot- com, says there are votes in North Louisiana to be had.

Meanwhile in the Louisiana Senate race, Senator Mary Landrieu is calling out Republican Congressman Bill Cassidy; referring to him as a a ‘debate dodger’. She made her comments Friday at Dillard University in New Orleans, which is the location of the first televised debate Thursday night. Tea Party Candidate Rob Maness will be there, but Cassidy has said he will not participate.
