Police say an off-duty Westwego police officer and a women are dead after being gunned down in Jefferson Parish. Sheriff Newell Normand says 26-year-old Officer Michael Louviere leaves behind a wife and two children. He says these tragic incidents are the things officers worry when they go to bed at night.

State senator Troy Brown will spend much of the weekend behind bars for his second domestic violence charge. Ascension Parish Sheriff Chief Deputy Bobby Webre says Brown will begins his 38-hour sentence Friday night. Brown pleaded no contest to allegations he bit his wife on the arm during an argument in July.
