Napoleonville Senator Troy Brown plead no contest to domestic violence charges. Brown’s 30 day sentence was suspended, and instead he wills spend just 38 hours in jail. Brown will also have to perform 64 hours of community service while on probation for three months.

Five people have been arrested in connection with the murder of a man who was killed during an apparent drug deal gone wrong, according to the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office. Sheriff Randy Smith says it started shortly after two groups of three met up for the deal.

Smith says shots fired by both groups left 19-year-old Javonte Donaldson dead, allegedly at the hands of Christover Davis.

70-percent of Louisiana contractors plan to hire more workers this year, according to the Associated General Contractors of America. AGC chief economist Ken Simonson says it could be hard to fill those positions, which is why companies are boosting incentives.
